DSJ Elite Guard 2023 Tremayne Parker: The younger brother of Former University of Tennessee and Cape Fear CC Guard Kwe Parker is creating some buzz of his own as we saw some flashes of his talent this weekend. The leaping ability must be in the bloodline as he is a high flyer like his older brother was, throwing down dunks in transition and attempting some in traffic. The highlights are what gets the attention of the fans but he has more to his game than just jumping ability, he showed some ballhandling skills, shooting ability and stellar passing. If he can stay focused on and off the court, the potential that he has in his game is absolutely scary!
Flight 22 2024 Guard Kenny Vera: He comes from a family of athletes as he has two older brothers that have played well at the high school level, both excelling on the football field as well as the court. With that being said, he is further along than the two older brothers were at this same age and he showed some very impressive ability throughout the day. Scoring the ball at a high level in multiple ways as well as dropping some very nice assist were things we saw from him all game long, the upside in his game is very clear.
All-Stars 2023 Guard Tyquise Wilson: Did a nice job of helping his team get easy buckets by getting out into transition and pushing the pace of the game. He has good end to end speed and displayed a nice midrange game as well as finishing once he got to the basket, solid overall performance.
Two-Six Takeover 2023 Forward Malik Brunson: Very good upper body strength for a player at such a young age, he battled with opposing forwards and centers that may have been bigger than him but he more than held his own. Rebounding is one area that we saw him make an impact as he was constantly on the boards for his team, finishing inside was also an attribute that he displayed regardless of the defense.
Two Six Takeover 2024 Guard Jonathan Williams: Scary potential in this young man here, he has all the tools to be a special player if he stays on the right track. In this tournament he played up in the 8th grade division, he’s only a 7thgrader so it was interesting to see him still dominate even though he was younger than the majority of the players he played against. He’s a bigger guard that understands how to use his height and slashing ability to get where he wants on the court, and he plays the game with a good amount of energy and intensity. Tweaking his shooting mechanics will be the next step for him in his progression and we will be interested to see how he progresses over the next few year.
Watch US Work 2023 Guard Isaiah Washington: Another player with a high amount of talent and potential in his game, he has the size at the guard spot that makes you intruigued as well as being pretty cool and calm regardless of whats going on. His outside shooting ability as well as his touch inside the paint are both areas that he has shown to be advanced in and he has plenty of the tools to be an outstanding defender as well.
