SF Jonathan Kuminga (Our Savior New American, NY – 2021)
Kuminga was one of the premier NBA prospects at the event. He played well again on Thursday (shocking I know) leading his team to the title game. At times he was completely dominant doing whatever he wanted. The 6’7” forward connected on pull up jumpers from all-around the floor. His jumper has become much more consistent over the last year. Clean looking jumper. Such an explosive burst getting to the rim. When he gets his broad shoulders squared and going downhill he is an absolute force! Defensively he checks multiple spots and is an active offensive rebounder.
PF Arthur Kaluma (Universal Academy, TX – 2021)
Kaluma is a power player who brings strength and a high-motor to the table. Gets out in transition finishing several alley-oops and displayed an explosive second jump.
SG Dariq Whitehead (Montverde, FL – 2022)
Whitehead had it rolling to start the championship game. The 6’4” two guard has a go to scorers mentality with the way he hunts shots whether it is a jumper from mid-range or three. Athleticism around the hoop plays well finishing above the rim regularly.
SF Bryce Hopkins (Fenwick, IL – 2021)
The Fenwick standout had his best day of the camp at the perfect time. He was a monster in the camp championship game showing his combination of strength, skill, and scoring pop on the wing. He drilled an array of pull up jumpers from all over floor with fluidity pulling up and off the catch. Also had a couple nice drives including taking it right at uber shot blocker Holmgren and finishing through him.
C Franck Kepnang (Westtown, PA – 2021)
Kepnang capped off a dominant week with another strong outing on Thursday. The physical 6’10” 230 pound center lived on the offensive glass getting second chance opportunities on a regular basis. Big time defender that protects the rim swatting shots left and right. Also defends well in the pick and roll. Posted up strong and had a couple nice moves on the block.
C Chet Holmgren (Minnehaha, MN – 2021)
Holmgren is a near seven foot center who is rail thin. He held his own against Kepnang who is over 50 pounds heavier than him. What you have to like about Holmgren is his shot blocking ability. Maybe the best rim protector in the country. He blocks shots on the perimeter, recovers to swat shots, comes from the weakside, and can block shots straight up. High points rebounds in traffic. Skilled offensive player who stretches the floor with his shooting and can drive off the bounce.
PG Kennedy Chandler (Briarcrest Christian, TN – 2021)
Chandler is a quick point guard that lived in the paint all week. Effortless burst off the bounce. Fast with the ball in his hands going end to end. Athleticism at the rim converting tough finishes. Creative passer throwing alley-oops and dump off passes in the lane.
PG Jerdarrian Davison (The Calhoun, AL – 2021)
Davison displayed a lot of athletic pop from the point guard position throughout the week. He attacks the rim with force and threw down multiple nasty dunks! Worked well in the pick and roll.
SG Langston Love (Byron P. Steele, TX – 2021)
Love continued his outstanding showing in St. Louis. This kid just has a natural scoring ability with his ability to get to the hoop, but his jumper is a major weapon. Love drilled three after three on Thursday. He can hit them off the catch or pulling up for triples. Monster week for this Texas scoring wing.
SF Brandon Miller (Crane Ridge, TN – 2022)
Miller plays with Brad Beal Elite and this 6’6” small forward has a lot of potential. Rangy and thin build. Projectable frame. He had his best day of camp on Thursday. Miller drilled an array of feathery jumpers all over the floor including a pair of smooth top of the key threes.
SG Shane Dezonie (Hungtington Prep, WV – 2021)
Dezonie is a strong two guard that plays with a high activity level. Gets on the offensive glass, tough takes in transition, and even displayed some passing flair from the wing.
PG Tyrese Hunter (Racine St. Catherine’s, WI – 2021)
Hunter is a Wisconsin product who was a late addition to camp, but gained momentum as the week went along. He is a true point guard with a nice feel for the game. Hunter is quick and shifty with the rock in his hands. Very active player that can make an open three.
SF Pierre Brooks (Detroit Fredrick Douglas, MI – 2021)
Brooks had another solid day. Thick bodied wing who can flat out shoot the rock! Deep range and plays with a lot of toughness. Finished well around the hoop and got on the glass for put backs.
