He had a solid spring, but on a balanced Atlanta Allstars team it can be hard for one guy to get a lot of spotlight. Last weekend was completely different; Greco had people talking left and right, tons of eyes were on him every game. He averaged over 20 PPG in 3 games against well-known prospects. The Chiefs went 4-0 on the weekend, which included wins over Greenforest, Pace, and Pebblebrook. Greco is a high-level shooter who hit multiple outside shots each game. He wasn’t just jacking them up either; his shot selection was good and he contributed in other areas also. Greco drew contact to get to the FT line often, picked his mid-range spots well, and rebounded effectively. Him and his fellow seniors guards Donovan Shipp and Myles McGee set a great example with their toughness and competitiveness. Greco picked up offers from Mercer and FAMU as a result of the weekend, more could be on the way with another strong showing at the Top 100 camp this weekend.
6’2” PG Jack Kostel (Mill Creek)- It has been a productive June for Mill Creek and Kostel personally, receiving 3 D2 offers since the start of the month. He turned things up a notch at camp, with two particularly impressive performances against Gainesville and Johns Creek. Against Gainesville on Friday, he put up 21 points (5 3’s), 12 rebounds, and 7 assists, leaving coaches wanting to see more of him. He ended the camp with a great game against Johns Creek in front of lots of coaches. Kostel started the game hot and never stopped, finishing with 27 points (3 3’s) and 10 rebounds in a nice victory. He was the best rebounder in a game that included 3 opponents that were 6’7”+. Kostel looked for his outside shot more often throughout the weekend and shot a high percentage from deep. He continued to display his speed, athleticism, and well-rounded game. Multiple Division 1 coaches were impressed with his production and should be tracking him in July.
6’2” PG Jasper Gibson (Dawson County)- A teammate of Greco’s on the Atlanta Allstars, Gibson also took advantage of being seen as the main guy on his high school team at camp. I saw two of Dawson’s games on Saturday, both of which were wins over solid teams in Denmark and St. Pius. Gibson led Dawson in scoring in both games, averaging 21.5 PPG. After a pretty good outing against Denmark, he blew everyone away with his performance against St. Pius. Gibson went for 28 points on 8 made 3’s, taking over the game in the 2nd half. He hit a few early after halftime and then basically couldn’t miss after that. Gibson hit a variety of shots at different angles, from very deep, and off both the dribble and catch. He is a high IQ player who isn’t just a shooter; he’ll make plays off penetration for himself and others. Gibson has some toughness to him and an alpha dog mentality. Look for him to draw a good amount of attention at the top 100 camp this weekend.
6’6” W Lamar Oden (Greenforest)- After coming on late in the spring, Oden looked confident and ready to prove a point last weekend. Friday night was a good time to do just that; Greenforest took on Sequoyah in a packed gym with 50+ college coaches. Greenforest is loaded with talent and size, but that did not limit Oden’s production. He put together an efficient game of 16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in this matchup. Oden hit 3 3’s, looking very comfortable from the corners and not taking many attempts. Offers from Charleston Southern, FAMU, and Tennessee State have come in from the camp, adding to his previous offers from Presbyterian and Kennesaw State. If Oden continues to play with the combination of energy, aggression, and efficiency that he displayed on Friday night, he’ll continue to add to that list of offers. He has great size for a perimeter player and can impact the game in various ways. I want to see what type of individual matchups he will take on at the Top 100 camp.
6’8” F Jacob Radaker (Jefferson)- After watching Jefferson and Radaker early last week at Winder-Barrow, I was astounded that he did not have more going on in his recruitment. Radaker was used scarcely on the Atlanta Celtics most of the spring; he switched to God’s Property in May and has carried some momentum into June. Radaker had tons of programs watching him throughout the camp, impressing in each game. You won’t find many high school prospects who can use either hand effectively on the block like Radaker can. His touch with both hands is great and he has a solid set of moves down low. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone who posts more aggressively this spring and summer; Radaker gets low and works his body around to get deep and give his teammates a target to throw too. He has also shown an effective jumper from mid-range and 3 that he picks when to use quite well. Radaker is very active on both ends, getting his hands in for deflections and constantly fighting for rebounding position on both ends. After receiving an offer from UAH at the camp, I expect that his first Division 1 offer will come at the top 100 camp this weekend.
6’1” G Brandon Sherer (Forsyth Central)- Sherer was a prospect that not many were familiar with heading into the weekend, but by the end of the weekend he had caught the attention of a handful of D2 and D3 programs. In Central’s matchup with Adairsville, Sherer scored 24 points and did a variety of things for his team. He hit lots of nice mid-range shots and showed solid decision-making with the ball. Sherer displayed his athleticism more than he had in the spring, slashing to the basket multiple times and elevating over defenders. With Jake Craft hitting from 3, Sherer gave Central another dynamic with his scoring off the dribble and in-between game. From the looks of it, he had a productive overall weekend and continued to be aggressive. He has a scorer’s mentality and seems to be improving constantly.
6’2” SG Christian Williams (Peachtree Ridge)- In a game where a plethora of coaches came to watch Keith Lamar and Kirshon Thrash of Eagle’s Landing, Christian Williams stole the show and was the best player on the floor. When his outside shot wasn’t falling early in the 1st half, he made an impact on the game in other ways. Williams made numerous on-point passes that either resulted in an assist for himself or a productive play for the team shortly after. He found his groove in the 2nd half of the low-scoring game, mixing in deep jumpers and paint opportunities. Williams is an exceptional outside shooter but is also capable with the ball in his hands. He has good vision, nice touch on his floaters, and is adept at drawing fouls. I think he’ll have a good amount of suitors after playing in the live period event at Archer tomorrow and Thursday.
