Note: part one of two
2021 F Matthew Cleveland of Pace Academy pictured – Coming off his NBA Top 100 debut, the 6-foot-6 forward Matthew Cleveland put on an absolute show this weekend in front of the plethora of college coaches in attendance. The development of Mr. Cleveland has been a pleasure to watch and his stock rising spring, summer continues to rise. Matthew is a physical forward with solid strength and size and is able to attack the rim basically whenever he wants. He holds the elite explosiveness and athleticism for a prospect in his position and you can certainly tell he has been working on his jump shot just a bit. He has yet to show his full potential but his play on the court has earned him a bunch of offers since April.
2022 PG Sterling “Scoota” Henderson of Kell High School – For those of you who do not know by now, Sterling Henderson or other wise known as Scoota, is probably the top player in the state of Georgia in the 2022 class. Henderson earned his first couple of offers this weekend from schools like Ole Miss, Florida, Florida State, and others. He is a 6-foot-2 point guard with nice size at the point guard position at his age. Scoota is a crafty guard with great strength and high IQ. His physical built seems to already be in place and his ability to get to the rim is at an all time high. Running with Game Elite Big 5 next month during the July live period, we should not be surprised if more offers start to pour in for the rising sophomore.
2020 F Jermontae Hill of Tucker High School – One of the rising 2020 prospects in the state of Georgia, 6-foot-6 plus forward Jermontae Hill showed his skills all weekend long during the 2019 NCAA Georgia event. Tucker High School, who is coming off a heartbreaking buzzer beater lost in the class 6A state championship game last season, will be led by their senior forward Jermontae Hill. Jermontae showed more confidence in shooting the ball and also did what he did best, which was finishing inside around the rim. He holds sneaky athleticism and has great power when finishing at the rim. Hill can also be a problem on the defensive end of the ball as well as he is a fairly well on-ball defender.
2021 F Josh Taylor of Norcross High School – With star wing 2020 Brandon Boston Jr. sitting out this weekend, that gave more room and attention to Georgia native Josh Taylor. The 6-foot-8 forward played with extremely great energy on both ends, was very vocal, and powerful inside the paint and around the basket. He holds long arms which helps him be great on the glass. Taylor will be returning to the state of Georgia, where he played before transferring to Greensboro Day (NC), and suit up for the powerhouse Norcross Blue Devils next season. A very nice addition to the program. Josh certainly impressed in his debut with his new squad.
2020 SG Evan Hurst of Milton High School – One prospect who surprisingly impressed me throughout the weekend was 6-foot-2 sharpshooter Evan Hurst. The rising senior was one the most consistent prospects throughout the entire weekend. Evan has the range and shot making abilities of Klay Thompson or J.J Redick. He hit non-stop three pointers for Milton throughout the weekend and his spot up shot making abilities were elite. Hurst’s off-ball movement around the wings and baseline certainly helped him get open and made it easier for his teammates to find him and deliver the pass right in his shooting pocket. A solid season ahead for the rising senior and his Milton squad.
