We have now witnessed countless stories of players that go undrafted or take alternative routes to get to the NBA and a few hopefuls from Washington high schools are hoping to be one of those success stories.
Undrafted 6’8 G Daulton Hommes (2015, Lynden Christian HS) – The Division 2 National Player of the Year at Point Loma created buzz after a strong couple seasons and leading his school to a national title. Daulton suffered knee injuries that kept him out of his junior and senior seasons of high school. He was a completely unheralded recruit and walked on at Western Washington. He would eventually transfer to Point Loma and see his NBA stock take off. Although he went undrafted, Daulton has signed a summer league deal with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Undrafted 6’1 G Tramaine Isabell (2014, Garfield HS) – Tramaine spent time at Missouri, Drexel and finished up at St. Louis. His best statistical season was his junior year at Drexel, where he averaged 21 points and 7.5 rebounds. Tramaine announced on his Instagram that he signed a summer league deal with the LA Clippers. Tramaine spent his entire club career with Seattle Rotary.
Undrafted 6’9 F Robert Franks (2015, Evergreen HS) – The WSU grad led his team in scoring at over 21 points and 7 rebounds per game. Franks was projected to be drafted in the second round in some mock drafts, but would eventually go undrafted, which is not all bad. He was able to select his own situation and sign a 2-way deal with the Charlotte Hornets. Robert played his club basketball with Team Avery Bradley. *Feature image
Here are a couple current high school players/Grads that have some momentum on future NBA Draft boards:
2019 6’9 F Anton Watson (Gonzaga Prep HS/ Gonzaga University) – Anton has shown up on various mock drafts, but it appears he will at least need a solid freshman season to go the one and done route. He was a 4-star recruit out of high school.
2020 6’6 SG Marjon Beauchamp (Bella Vista Prep/Uncommitted) – Marjon is expected to attend his senior season in Arizona, but his stock has gone up after a strong spring with the northwest based ML20 squad. He was invited to the Pangos All-American and NBA Top 100 camp where he had strong performances in some games. There are not many 2021 mock drafts just yet, but he is the highest rated prospect out of Washington. At the NBA Top 100 and Pangos All-American camp he had the opportunity to play in front of dozens of NBA scouts.
