Isaiah Reams 5’9″ Mexico (’22): A very impressive young point guard who has excellent quickness, but he can play at different tempos while still being under control. He penetrated into the lane and dropped nice dimes to open teammates. He had a nice 3-point stroke off the catch plus he has slick handles, which enabled him to create his own offense off the dribble.
Lance Hackney 6’6″ Lutheran St. Charles (’21): A big, physical post who who was one of the top big players at the shootout on the day. He has tough moves around the basket, where he can score with both hands. At times when he didn’t get a lot of touches on offense, he created his own touches by attacking the boards on both ends of the court.
Joshua Talton 6’1″ Monroe City: (’22): The younger brother of graduated MC standout CE Talton, this young wing seems primed to keep up the family tradition at Monroe City. He has a solid build and an excellent skill set. He dropped several 3-pointers from the wing and could attack the basket as well while playing through contact. He averaged 10 points a game as a freshman.
Dominic Dabney 5’9″ Milan (’21): The young guard is small in stature in terms of height, but he has the body of linebacker and he is as tough as nails. He showed the ability to get inside and get buckets amongst the bigs and he doesn’t mind contact. He’s a solid rebounder for his size and he plays with a high motor.
Conner Hayes 6’0″ Knox County (’21): A solid all-around guard who has a lot of responsibility for his team. He is the primary ball-handler and decision maker as well as the team’s top bucket-getter. He’s a good perimeter shooter who can also get it on the drive. He also did a good job of keeping his teammates involved with his passing.
Micheal White 5’11” Mexico (’22): A bouncy young combo guard who was very impressive with his skill set and the ability to play under control. He has solid handles and a smooth shooting stroke off the dribble with good elevation. He was also a good defender who could get inside and grab his share of rebounds as a guard.
Marcus Coleman 6’1″ Lutheran St. Charles (’23): A talented young point guard who’s a coach’s son and he plays that way with his poise and good feel for the game. He plays at different tempos and made good decisions with the ball while also making open perimeter shots.
Cole Mitchell 5’9″ South Shelby (’21): A small, relatively thing young guard who could really light it up from 3-point range. He has a high-arching 3-pointer that can bring rain, but he swished several of them during the game I watched. He was good off the catch, but he can also create one as well with a good escape move.
