Ryan Dabney 6’5″ Milan: It was my first opportunity to see him in person and he showed why he is one of the top Class 2 players in the state. He is a big, strong player with a variety of moves in the post and excellent footwork to go along with it. He is also an excellent ball handler who is an unselfish and very willing passer. He has a very good feel for the game and he makes his teammates better.
Bryce Stark 6’2″ Monroe City: A versatile wing player who does a little bit of everything for his team. He is the team’s secondary ball handler and he does well when he pushes the ball in transition with his ability to attack the rim or make the proper decision. He can also play the high post on offense well and he will hit pull up jumpers. He also had a few nice displays of athleticism with some impressive dunks in transition.
Hunter Shaw 6’4″ Milan: A long and athletic wing player was easily the most explosive player that I watched during the day. He had some impressing dunks, including a spectacular throw down on a baseline drive in which he stretched out and jammed it. He puts it on the floor well and will hit a perimeter jumper. He did a nice job on defense with his length at the top of his team’s zone trap.
Trent Anderson 6’4″ Hermann: A physical post player who led his team to a Class 3 district championship in 2019. The big lefty is a meat and potatoes player who gets the job done without a lot of flair. He posts up, he catches and ball and he puts it in the basket. It’s simple, but it’s very effective. He also had the ability to score on tough drives to the basket when he can get to his left hand.
Guy Timbrook 6’4″ South Shelby: A solid combo forward who displayed the ability to score in the post or step outside and knock down 3-pointers off the catch. He’s physically strong and he held his position well in the post and converted in the paint. He passes the ball well to relieve the pressure off his guards and he has a nice shooting touch from the high post and beyond the 3-point line.
