Daniel Abreu 6’5″ Willard (Missouri Flight): The 2020 forward has done a great job of developing his entire game over the course of his career and it showed on Sunday. His perimeter game is now well developed as he hit 3-pointers, scored off the drive and made some good passes. He also defends multiple positions well with his positioning and high basketball IQ. After the showcase, he picked up new offers from Division I national champion Northwest Missouri State and Division I Jacksonville University.
Devon Barshow 6’6″ McCluer (Arsenal Hoops): The long and slender 2020 wing was a determined scoring threat during the day as he was able to attack the basket and operate in tight spots. Even when he got knocked down on the drive, he got right back up and attacked again. He handled the ball comfortably and showed his ability to hit Corner 3-pointers.
Anton Brookshire 6’2″ Kickapoo (Yanders Law): The talented 2021 was the most impressive point guard from Missouri that I watched during the event. His handles were slick and he could create buckets at any time, but he was always under control. He dictated possessions where he set up teammates for open shots before they knew they would be open. In a showcase event, he had the perfect balance of displaying his playmaking and ball-distribution skills along with his ability to go and get buckets.
Aaron Franklin 6’4″ Raytown (MoKan Elite): This 2020 wing was very impressive with his all-around ability to make plays with or without the ball. In the first game on Sunday, he seemed to be everywhere as he grabbed offensive rebounds, got steals and ran the court for transition buckets. He has good length and athleticism and he displayed a nice stroke from 3-point range, especially in the corners.
Sekou Gassama 6’10” DeSmet (Gateway): The 2021 post displayed his length and athleticism on the defensive end with his ability to block and alter shots around the basket. He is very active on both ends of the court with some nice rim-runs in transition. He is better at the turn-and-face game in the mid-post area on offense where he can hit the 10 to 12 footer or make a quick move to the basket.
Coban Porter 6’5″ Father Tolton (MoKan Elite): The talented combo guard has excellent size and a nice fundamental skill set. He is able to accomplish a lot with the ball in his hands without trying to do too much. He stays under control with his ability to handle the ball and scored from all three levels. A simple jab step here, a pull-up from 3-point distance or a good cut away from the basket. He will also find the open man as well.
Quenton Shelton 6’2″ Lebanon (Carroll GoL1ve): The 2020 guard was one of the most impressive perimeter shooters in the showcase as he displayed deep range as well as accuracy. It was virtually automatic. He compliments his deep shooting with the ability to go and get buckets off the dribble from the mid-range as he has the handles to create his own shot when he has to. He picked up an offer from Oklahoma Christian after the weekend.
Najee Williams 6’2″ Blue Springs (Marcus Denmon Elite): An explosive 2021 athlete who played with a lot of energy during the day. He grabbed rebounds, ran the court and threw down a number of slam dunks. He is at his best on the offensive end when he is attacking the basket with strength. I enjoyed his hustle and activity. He received an offer from Ohio University this week.
