With the spring grassroots season underway, Prep Hoops takes a look at several Kansas City area wing players who are raising their profile.
0-Elijah Corner, 6’5, 2021, Ruskin, Team KC Black 16U
A long defender who has athleticism and great vision. He has a lot of bounce and looks to contest every shot he can around him. He fights to the rim and can play with the ball and without it. He sells the contact and gets to the free throw line often. A strong player who likes to jump.
5-Noble Crompton, 6’2, 2021, Raytown, KC Premiere Blue Chips
An athletic guard/wing who is a fantastic defender. He plays tight defense the entire length of the floor and can tip the ball and cause guards to overthink plays. He moves off the ball on offense and can crash the boards and get buckets underneath.
24-Anthony Hall, 6’4, 2021, Park Hill, KC Premiere Blue Chips
A lengthy forward who can run, jump and also makes noise as a defensive rebounder. He looks to block shots and moves well vertically and on both ends of the floor. He can get up as well. A mobile kid who looks to shut down his opponents and score close to the basket.
8-Tayven Glasgow, 6’3, 2020, Lee’s Summit West, KC Silver
A clever ball handler who can leap well and get to the basket and score. He moves well with the ball and cuts inside and uses his frame to create space to get his floater or underhand layup off. He has good athleticism and a soft touch around the rim.
4-Garrett Lee, 6’3, 2020, Park Hill South, KC Premiere Blue Chips 17U
A great defender with good size and quick feet. He corners his opponents and forces them to look ahead and get the ball out of their hands. He moves off the ball on offense and can catch and shoot and clean up plays and finish things inside off a rebound.
7-Ben Palacios, 6’5, 2020, Saint Michaels, Marcus Denmon Elite
A shooter from the wing who also makes extra passes and crashes the boards. He has good height and a thin frame and sells contact and sacrifices his body for a play. He always seems to be open and his movement off the ball comes in handy game after game.
44-Cashius Howell, 6’3, G/F, Rockhurst, Marcus Denmon 2021
Howell adjusts well to in game situations. He plays big when he needs to and can handle players who have more weight and a lot of experience on the block and high post. He jumps well and is a good rebounder on the defensive glass and can finish plays if he has the right matchup. A player with balance and speed.
