Ilyaas Harris 6’0″ Marquette: The smooth floor general who walks the fine line of being a facilitator and bucket-getter very deftly. He displays the ability to create his own shot off the dribble with nice escape moves with 3-point range to go along with it. His passing and playmaking skills are also very good.
Demarcus Sanford, Jr. 6’2″ Lift for Life: A long athletic point guard who can play effectively with the ball in his hands or off the ball with his ability to shoot the 3-pointer. He uses his height and length well on the defensive end when his team employs full court pressure defense.
Preston Fortner 5’9″ Francis Howell: The small point guard got a lot of valuable experience as a Final Four team last season and now he will become a full-time starter. He has good quickness and solid handles to go along with his excellent touch from 3-point range.
Roddy Alexander 5’11” Christian-O’Fallon::An energetic combo guard who plays basketball with a football-like mentality, which is being in constant attack mode. It’s no surprise because he’s also a standout on the football field. Everyone knows he’s attacking the basket and he gets there anyway.
Wunya Brown 5’10” St. Mary’s: He’s the size of a point guard, but he is most effective off the ball where he is an impressive bucket-getter. He can create shots off the dribble as well as anyone and he can get it done from the mid-range or from 3-point territory. He’s instant offense.
Marlon Owens 5’9″ McCluer North: A solid young lead guard who will assume more full-time duty after seeing a lot of playing time on a 27-victory team last season. He plays with excellent tempo and pace while keeping the action hot on the defensive end.
