Jashawn Anderson 5’10” East St. Louis: One of the quickest guards that I watched over the weekend. He was virtually impossible to keep out of the lane when he wanted to get to the basket. He has a quick first step and a great burst, plus he has the ability to finish at the rim at different angles.
Jaylen Boyd 6’1″ Ladue: One of the biggest plays of the Lindenwood camp came in the Rams victory in sudden death when Boyd penetrated and scored on a nice, twisting layup for the win, which he made look easy. He changes speeds and directions as well as anyone to free himself from defenders and create offense.
Ray’Sean Taylor 6’1″ Collinsville: In a solid victory over Lutheran North, the talented bucket-getter played more of a facilitator role as he got his teammates the ball who were really going on offense. He advances the ball well and can get to the bucket at a moment’s notice. His size and ability to finish make him one of the best in the St. Louis metro area.
Jeremiah Jackson 6’2″ McCluer: A good size point guard with good length and quickness, he used his slick ball handling to shake and bake his way to buckets in the lane on several different occasions. He is a solid shooter off the dribble as well. He is strong defensively
Tahj Patterson 6’2″ Lutheran North: A good-sized combo guard who does a good job of always staying under control, but he manages to gets to his spots to create offense. He has a nice pull up jumper and he can get to the basket well, but he is at his best when he’s shooting jumpers off the dribble. He is also a solid rebounder from the guard position.
Cawhan Smith 5’9″ Collinsville: The small combo guard was a bucket in the game I watched against Lutheran North at SIUE. He plays off the ball quite a bit alongside Ray’Sean Taylor and he does it well as he can attack the basket, get in transition and knock down jumpers off the dribble. He’s quick and he gets to where he wants to go.
Mark Moore 5’9″ Hillsboro: A very solid point guard who has been doing it well in Jefferson City for three years. He handles the ball well and keeps the offense moving with his passing and court savvy. He can also make a pest of himself on defense with his ability to get into passing lanes and create turnovers and transition opportunities.
