On my travels, I’ve been able to identify some new players on the scene who played well and hope to become factors for their teams next season.
Here is a look at some of those new kids who put in work in team camp action last week.
Tresean White 6’0″ Confluence Prep Academy (’22): Slick young guard with quickness and a nice set of handles that enable him to get to the basket just about any time he wants to. He’s a good finisher at the rim.
Nate Straughter 6’2″ Chaminade (’22): A impressive young shooting guard with a natural ability to score. He has long-range shooting ability from 3-point distance plus he can get to the bucket off the dribble.
Nick Wasilewski 6’5″ Jackson (’23): A very nice young forward in Southeast Missouri who good athleticism and a solid skill set. He can score in the post, rebound and block shots. He is also a solid mid-range jump shooter.
Clayton Ernest 6’7″ Jackson (’23): An impressive young post player with good length and a nice shooting touch. He can score around the basket or he can step out and knock down elbow jumpers.
Anias Futrell-Yahwah 6’4″ McCluer (’21): A home-school kid who is now attending McCluer, he will be a welcome addition with his athleticism and skill set. He can play multiple positions and he plays with a lot of energy.
B.J. Ward 5’9″ Chaminade (’23): A talented young guard who is very poised and plays with a good feel for the game. He has good scoring ability, but he stays under control without forcing the issue too much.
Jack Steinbach 5’11” Ladue (’23): Solid young point guard who played well at the St. Charles Shootout. He has nice handles and can pass the ball to go along with his ability to knock down 3-pointers.
Marcus Coleman 6’1″ Westminster (’23): Young point guard who plays the game with a lot of energy as he does a good job of pushing the tempo and playing with poise. He also hit a number of open perimeter shots.
