He was one of the top players in the Northern Carolina Conference all season long as they finished the regular season 12-2 and with a bid to the 1A State Tournament. He’s a prospect that’s slowly starting to get some high-major looks and I was able to catch up with him on Tuesday to get his thoughts on his development and recruiting.
Q: Breakdown Terence Harcum’s game. What are your strengths? What are some things you’re working on?
Terence Harcum Jr.: I’d say the strengths of my game are getting to the rack, kicking it to open teammates, definitely my mid-range. One dribble pull-up is something that I’ve gotten stronger with and I want to continue to improve that.
Q: How’s the recruitment process going? Most recently you’ve heard from Ohio State, is anybody else beginning that process with you?
TH: Lehigh is one school that’s been in touch with me as well as Elon. I’ve started to hear more from those two schools the most.
Q: What are some personal goals you have for yourself and the team this season?
TH: Always win a title or a championship. The last two years we’ve been to the Elite 8 and we’ve always come up short so that’s where I want to improve and help this team achieve that goal.
Q: What’s the biggest aspect of your game you’re currently working on?
TH: Definitely on shooting off the dribble. I’ve noticed that’s one of the aspects of my game that I struggle with but I’ve been in the gym twice a day so it’s only a matter of time. Soon it’ll be natural for me to make one dribble pull-ups and shots from 3 off the dribble.
Q: What would be your ideal college to attend?
TH: I want to go high major, I think I’m a high-major prospect and it’s always nice to go high major, but if that’s not the right for me, it’s whoever wants me. I like Ohio State, Lehigh has gotten some top prospects these past few years. Somewhere in that range of schools would be ideal for me.
Harcum is certainly due to receive some offers in the near future. He’s one prospect whose game speaks for itself. He’s a natural “lead by example” type that’s active on both ends and involved in the play in some way, shape or form.
He’s a player that should keep opponents in the HoopState on alert. With his teammate Jamari Mann, the duo is set to do damage this upcoming season.
