Terrin Hamilton, Scott County – Hamilton continues to show positional versatility and an improving jump shot. No longer stuck in Michael Moreno’s shadow, Terrin was the go to scorer for the Cardinals all week and caught the eye of the Georgetown staff.
Joe Benton, Estill County – I hadn’t seen Joe in over two years and he’s grown from about 5’7 to 6’2 and plays with a swagger reminiscent of Steph Curry. Benton’s future is likely on the golf course but he is a no brainer D2/NAIA basketball player and could be a D1 kid with more exposure.
Bryce Riley, Nelson County – Bryce is one of the top 2022s in Kentucky. He showcased a good jumper all week at camp but the next step for Riley is to strengthen his left hand and become a strong driver. Riley has a muscular build and a good skill level. If he grows (he just turned 15 so he should) he tracks as a solid D1 prospect.
Andrew Mason, Thomas Nelson – Mason is long and athletic but has a long way to go with his body. He needs to be living in the weight room until his Junior season gets underway. Mason was the best player on the floor when Thomas Nelson played Great Crossings.
Michael McKenzie, Great Crossings – McKenzie was one of the defectors from Scott County to Great Crossings and it looks like a good move for him as he and KJ Tucker of Scott County are both ball dominant shooters. Michael shot it well and showed improved ability to put the ball on the floor. Expect him to be the leading scorer for the Warhawks as a Senior.
Jaxon Smith, Lincoln County – Smith is a known commodity at this point in the 2022 class. Coming off a great performance at the State Tournament in March, Jaxon is going to be expected to be a top player in the 12th region next season. He facilitated the offense for the Patriots as they had a strong week at team camp.
Aziel Blackwell, Henry Clay – Blackwell played July AAU in Kentucky last summer before returning to New Jersey for his Sophomore season. It appears Aziel is back to stay and will be going to Henry Clay. He should step right into the point guard spot that was vacated by Keaston Brown’s graduation.
Kason Hinson, Augusta – Hinson finished his playing career at Bracken County when his dad got the Augusta job on Wednesday afternoon. Before that, Kason showed the ability to score the ball about anyway you want it. He’s got to bulk up and become a better passer but the potential is there for Kason to be a strong 2022 prospect and should be in our next rankings update for that class.
