Both represented by ten of the best graduating seniors from their respective states, the Oklahoma roster had 10 players named to the 2019 OCA All-State team and included 12 State Championships.
Oklahoma was represented by:
- Kalib Boone, Tulsa Memorial (Okla. St.)
- Keylan Boone, Tulsa Memorial (Okla St.)
- Julian Smith, Sapulpa (Ranger College)
- Kellen Hines, Fort Cobb-Broxton (Southwestern Okla. St.)
- Seth Hurd, Booker T. Washington (Univ. of Central Okla.)
- Shemar Smith, Norman North (Univ. of Central Okla.)
- Dyson Plumley, El Reno (Murray St. College)
- JD Ray, Midwest City (Northern Okla. – Enid)
- Jacob Germany, Kingston (Texas – San Antonio)
- RJ Weeks, Kingston (Southeastern Okla. St.)
Weeks was named a substitute after Putnam City North’s Micah Thomas, a Texas State signee, announced he would not be able to participate in the game.
Oklahoma was coached by Kingfisher’s Jared Reece and Hobart’s Jeff Tompkins.
Shemar was named as the game’s Oklahoma MVP after scoring 16 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. Smith was all smiles following the game.
“It felt really good winning the MVP,” said Smith. “Honestly I didn’t expect to get it, but I did, so cool.”
Oklahoma took an early 18-10 lead after a quick 10-point contribution in the first quarter from Julian Smith.
After the first half, Oklahoma clung to a 53-50 lead before being outscored 52-42 in the second half as Texas snuck back for the victory.
Kalib Boone did take home a victory for Oklahoma, however, winning the Chic-Fil-A dunk contest by unanimous decision, thanks to a final-round windmill from JD Ray’s assist.
Shemar Smith was trailed in scoring by Ray and Julian Smith, who finished with 13 apiece. Keylan Boone notched 12, while Seth Hurd and Kalib Boone each had 10.
Ray led all players in assists with four.
Kalib Boone finished with 15 rebounders, leading all players.
