Seven feet worth of interesting.
Seven-foot, 300-pound 2023 prospect Jahzare Jackson (pictured) was in attendance with his mother.
Jackson, who splits his time between Oceanside, Calif., and Broward County, has been home-schooled. The family is checking out prospective high schools this summer and said there is no timetable for a decision.
Asked about his strengths on the court, Jackson said: “I can rebound, run the floor, play defense. I can guard. I have a good touch around the hoop.”
Reynolds sighting
Ivan Reynolds — a talented 6-4 2020 guard — appears to have moved on. The former Coral Springs Charter captain was playing with Chaminade-Madonna on Saturday.
The loss would be a blow to coach Lamar Twitty & Co.
The Panthers were set to return pretty much their entire roster off a 19-win team that made it to the regional quarterfinals.
St. Thomas Aquinas lands trio
2021 Tristan Goldstein, who stands 6-5 to 6-6, has transferred to St. Thomas Aquinas from Cypress Bay, according to new Raiders coach Ed Nelson.
Two Lake Wales Vanguard players have also made the move to St. Thomas. 6-3 2020 Jamal Norris averaged 17.3 points a game as a junior while 6-2 Julian Fletcher (2020) averaged 8.9 a game.
… 2020 guard Brandon Garcia, who missed much of his junior year with a knee injury, is transferring back to Cypress Bay from Somerset Pines.
Green Wave post ticketed for football
Fort Myers High center Cayden Baker goes 6-7, 275.
But the 2020 post is ticketed for college football. The offensive tackle prospect holds double-digit scholarship offers in football from the likes of Miami, Boston College, Indiana, Louisville, North Carolina, Purdue, UCF and USF.
Southern Miss was the first program to offer Baker. He said he is not close to committing.
“When I know, I am going to commit,” said Baker, who attended Southwest Florida Christian Academy until the latter part of his junior year.
Colleges in attendance
Among the college coaches taking in FABC Fort Lauderdale: Nova Southeastern, Florida Southern, Palm Beach Atlantic, Barry University, Southeastern University, Trinity, Thiel College, Keiser University, Palm Beach State, Warner University, Webber International and St. Thomas University.
