Chattanooga offered him Wednesday as Lanier returned from an official visit to Patriot League Boston University.
“Just came back from Boston U. today from an OV and plan on taking one to ETSU in August,” said Emory Lanier via Twitter direct message Wednesday.

Boston University is a high-academic option obviously located in Boston, Massachusetts. The average G.P.A. for accepted student applications is 3.66 and the mean SAT score is 1360. Emory, an outstanding student himself, would be surrounded by academically-inclined students and a challenging curriculum.
Emory enjoyed the official visit.
“It was a great experience, I have a good relationship with coach Jones and I like what they’re doing up there,” said Lanier in reflection. “I also fit in with the players well on and off the court.”
Specifically, Lanier felt ingratiated to Walter Whyte and Jonas Harper. Both Whyte and Harper are originally from Connecticut and each player attended St. Luke’s School in Connecticut. Whyte, like Emory is sure to be this upcoming winter, was a captain for his high school.
Instead of moving to Atlanta with his father, newly-named Georgia State Head Coach Rob Lanier, Emory elected to finish his high school career with Webb School-Knoxville.
Cementing his Own Legacy
State Champion Emory Lanier accepted the starting point guard role at Webb prior to the 2018-2019 campaign. Head Coach Ricky Norris, in a preseason interview conducted by PrepHoopsTN, addressed the apparent vacancy at his team’s point guard position. Graduated were Knox Webb legends Chase Ridenour and Myles Rasnick. Their careers ended just shy of the state championship even though both Ridenour and Rasnick finished as 1,000 point scorers. Could Webb find guards to fill in those sizable shoes?
Coach Norris admitted Emory Lanier was not the traditional, blazing point guard, but he was such a great leader and so composed on the ball, that Coach Norris knew he could lean on him to be the ball-handler.
It worked brilliantly.

In August, Emory Lanier will travel to East Tennessee State University after his final July with BMaze Elite. In the interim several more mid-major programs are certain to extend offers. Emory Lanier is a perfect fit in any college backcourt and astute coaches are realizing that swiftly.
