Not only were players stuffing the stat sheets, there seemed to be one play each game that brought the crowd to their feet whether it be a dunk, alley-oop or making a defender fall with a crossover.
Player Of The Night:
Jordan Strickland | 6’4 | Parkville ’20
Strickland was a dominant force from start to finish for EBA last night as he finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds. The 6-foot-4 forward was most impressive when he would grab a rebound and glide down the other end of the floor as the ball-handler attacking the rim and getting a lay up or drawing a foul. Strickland brought the crowd to their feet with a strong one-handed dunk in traffic off of a dump pass.
Here were some more standouts from last night’s lineup:
Ramon Villanueva | 6’4 | Pointers ’20
Villanueva missed last week’s opening game, so it was my first time seeing him in action in some time. He didn’t disappoint. The versatile 6-foot-4 forward showcased a very high IQ, ability to shoot from beyond the arc and controlling the glass at both ends. He finished with a stat line of 16 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in a win.
Hassan Tucker | 6’3 | Pointers ’20
Tucker had a strong ending performance in the Pointers’ win. The rising senior finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Many of his buckets came from around the rim and none were more impressive than this poster off a lob pass:

Timmy Adedire | 6’4 | Pointers ’20
Adedire recorded eight points, eight rebounds and two assists on the night. His stat line was a good indication of his overall effort. Adedire finished well around the rim, was a big presence on the glass and ran the floor exceedingly well in transition to earn some easy looks.
Jeramiah Gaines | 5’10 | Rams ’22
Gaines was really the Rams’ only hope in their game against the Pointers. The 5-foot-10 guard scored 20 of the team’s 38 points while also grabbing four rebounds and dishing out three assists. Gaines was persistent in taking the ball to the rim where he could finish through contact or draw a foul.
John Godinez | 5’10 | EBA ’20
Godinez boasted a stat line of 11 points, five rebounds and three assists in EBA’s win over the Falcons. The crafty 5-foot-10 floor general did a nice job of finding seams in the defense and getting to the rim where he finished with soft touch and avoided the opposing bigs effectively. Godinez played a big role in EBA’s press acting as a free safety and picking off lazy passes to spark easy baskets.
Malik Scipio | 6’2 | Falcons ’21
Scipio was almost literally all the Falcons had considering he scored 19 of their 29 total points. The 6-foot-2 bruising guard did a nice job of putting the team on his back and scoring in a number of ways. He also pulled down five rebounds and recorded three assists in the loss to EBA.
Mason Bracken | 6’0 | Bluebirds ’21
Bracken scored a game-high 17 points in their win over the Mavs. Bracken’s shot has a weird twitch to it, but it seemed like everything was falling for him last night. One specific area that he stood out was by converting at the free-throw line as the game got close. Bracken finished a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.
Jayier Anderson | 5’11 | Bluebirds ’21
Anderson once again had a nice performance where he had an impact in the scoring and rebounding departments. The 5-foot-11 guard finished with 13 points and eight rebounds. Anderson is a great hustle player that crashing the glass relentlessly. For his size, that’s a pretty rare, but valuable characteristic.
Noah Oliver | 6’1 | Mavs’ 21
Oliver had another strong week despite a loss to the Bluebirds, finishing with 14 points, five rebounds and two assists. Eight of his points came from the free-throw line as a result of Oliver beating his man off the dribble and drawing fouls in the paint. He did so on a regular basis and used soft touch to finish lay ups when he wasn’t getting fouled.
Marlon Lewis | 6’4 | Spartans ’21
After a dominant performance in week one, Lewis led his team once again with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds. Lewis scored the bulk of his points in transition where he could display his aerial assault on the rim. He had two missed dunk attempts that ignited the crowd, but finished an explosive two-handed flush that helped swing momentum his team’s way.
Bradley Hall | 6’2 | Cobras ’20
Hall led the Cobras for the second week in a row with a solid 14-point, nine-rebound outing. The Cobras came up short to the Spartans, but showed a good fight until the end to bring the game as close as four with two minutes left. Hall was a big part in the comeback with his ability to make shots off the catch.
Rob Johnson | 6’3 | Wolfpack ’21
Johnson’s 12-point, eight-rebound performance helped lead the Wolfpack to a big win over the Bayhawks. Johnson set the tone early by help limiting the Bayhawks to one-shot possessions by crashing the defensive glass hard. He earned six of his points off of two triples and four came off trips to the free-throw line. Although Johnson is the tallest player on his team, his versatility helps open the floor for teammates to seek driving lanes and spread the floor.
Malik Taylor | 6’1 | Bayhawks ’20
Taylor acted in a Draymond Green type of role last night in the loss as he recorded 15 points, five rebounds and three assists. The undersized forward scored from mid-range, three and the free-throw line to complete a solid night’s work.
