DMV Live II Saturday P.M. Standouts
HYATTSVILLE, MD – DMV Live II Saturday is underway at DeMatha for Session II, and Prep Hoops is back in the gym checking out local talent. Below is a brief rundown of 15 standouts from the afternoon and evening game sets.
JAMES BERRY | 6’4 G | IRETON ‘20
Berry showcased a high motor and was a steady presence on the boards. Offensively, he demonstrated good playmaking attributes and made guys around him better.
TERRENCE BUTLER | 6’7 F | MCNAMARA ‘21
Butler impressed with his overall efficiency on the offensive end. His face up game is expanding and he is more than capable of scoring with his back to the basket as well.
ARNARDO CAMACHO | 6’3 G | NATIONAL CHRISTIAN ‘20
Camacho is a big guard who displayed high level playmaking ability. On the defensive side, he used his length to be disruptive and rebounded well from his position.
JARED CROSS | 6’2 G | SSSAS ‘20
Cross got into a nice rhythm offensively, knocking down several threes from catch and shoots and spot ups. He did a nice job using his length to be disruptive defensively and rebound.
JOHN IZEMEF | 6’9 C | NATIONAL CHRISTIAN ‘21
Izemef set the tone with his rim running, rebounding and interior defense. He’s got big time length and coordination which in conjunction with his improving back to the basket game make him a tough matchup in the low post.
WADE JACKSON | 6’2 G | PALLOTTI ‘20
Jackson defended at a high-level both on the perimeter and in the post. He applied pressure on the defense by getting downhill, seeking contact in the lane, and using his impressive body control to finish consistently in traffic.
OUMAR KOUREISSI | 6’9 F | NATIONAL CHRISTIAN ‘20
Koureissi is a gifted offensive talent who scores effortlessly from all three levels. He’s a terrific spot shooter with a smooth release.
XAVIER LIPSCOMB | 6’2 G | SSSAS ‘20
Lipscomb is a true floor general who makes guys around him better. He showed that he can guard multiple positions and run his team at a high-level.
BEZ MBENG | 6’3 G | GOOD COUNSEL ‘21
Mbeng looks very confident as a playmaker with the ball in his hands. He displayed good court vision and the ability to make guys around him better.
SESE MOBUTU | 6’2 G | IRETON ‘20
Mobutu brought good intangibles to his team with his communication on both ends of the court. He’s a good athlete who is best offensively in transition.
JULIAN REESE | 6’8 F | ST. FRANCES ‘21
Reese impressed with his ability to play physical defense in the post without fouling. On the offensive side, he showed nice touch when finishing around the rim and a confident mid-range pull-up which was featured in his expanding face-up game.
JAKAI ROBINSON | 6’4 G | NATIONAL CHRISTIAN ‘21
Robinson is a relentless worker who does several things on both ends of the court, including rebound and defend at a high level. His shot making ability continues to improve, which is certainly a plus.
KHYRIE STATEN | 6’2 G | ST. FRANCES ‘21
Staten got into the game initially by making several shots from long range, but gradually got more involved as a playmaker. He’s got incredible burst, loves to get out in transition and find his teammates.
DAY WATERS | 6’4 SG | GOOD COUNSEL ‘21
Waters is a silent assassin on the offensive end. He can score from all three levels but specializes in the mid post where he is adept at creating space, pulling up on a dime, and hitting tough shots.
ZAAKIR WILLIAMSON | 6’7 PF | ROCK CREEK ‘21
Williamson is a flat-out mismatch problem with his relentless motor and versatile offensive arsenal. He did a nice job talking on defense, moving his feet laterally, and contesting every shot in his area.
