Roy Williams, Ed Cooley, Nate Oats, Juwan Howard were some of the head coaches spotted in attendance with many other schools present. Below are a handful of guys that stood out on night one of the event.
2021 6’4 Jakai Robinson | National Christian
The number one player in our 2021 class for Maryland/DC rankings showed why he is number one as the strong guard was scoring at all three levels. He looked great shooting the ball and finished at the rim with contact as he drove to the rim. The rising junior finished with 24 points.
2020 6’10 Oumar Kouressi | National Christian
If Oumar continues to play the way he did last night all weekend, he could have a major breakout week. Ourmar was making hook shots, blocking shots, and rebounding on both ends of the floor. What really stood out was how well he was finishing around the rim and how he can finish above the rim. There were plenty of times when Oumar would catch the ball, take one dribble and dunk with authority. Rhode Island head coach David Cox was front in and center for the rising senior.
2021 6’2 Zion Russell | Georgetown Prep
Russell finished with 12 points last night leading his Prep team in scoring. He made some difficult shots and also showed how he can finish above the rim in transition. He also got his teammates involved where he had four assists. Prep was in a highly contested game all night against National Christian and Zion showed good signs of leadership throughout the game. He picked up an offer from Columbia after his game.
2021 6’2 Brayon Freeman | Bishop O’Connell
Freeman is always wired to score and he continued to play that way last night in a win against Pallotti. he rising junior can get to the rim so fast and can finish well with defenders around him. He also hit some tough pull up jumpers which led to 21 points. All summer for O’Connell he is hovering around that 20 points per game stat line which is highly impressive. Last night also featured some of the best passing I have seen from Freeman, finishing with 10 assists.
2020 6’7 TJ Gadsden | Bishop O’Connell
Toughness and hard working is something you never have to worry about when TJ is on the court. TJ was rebounding all night and was very efficient around the rim. I don’t think I have ever seen him score as many points as he finished with 21 on the night also tallying 13 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.
2020 6’2 Xavier Lipscomb | St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes
Another guy that you know is going to bring it every time he steps onto the floor is Xavier Lipscomb. Lipscomb showed tremendous leadership all night and was constantly talking and trying to get his team back in the game when they were down 10 plus points pretty much all game. He was driving and connecting at the rim with defenders on him all game. He finished the night with a very impressive stat line of 26 points, 7 assists, 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
2020 6’4 Josiah Freeman | Paul VI
Josiah did what he does best last night which is hit shots for his teams. He went 4/6 behind the three-point line is always a factor to score in bunches for the Panthers. He is continuing to attack the rim with defenders on him and is having success at dumping the ball in the basket in heavy traffic and contact. Freeman is a guy that you always know what you are going to get out of him night in and night out.
2020 7’1 Hunter Dickinson | DeMatha
Dickinson had an intriguing matchup as he was going up against fellow big man in 6’10 big man, Noel Brown. Dickinson got the best of the matchup finishing with 15 rebounds and 13 points in front of Roy Williams plus an UNC assistant, Juwan Howard of Michigan and a Louisville assistant.
