Connor Martin @PrepHoopsTN Summer Combine Recapture
Sophomore-to-be Connor Martin (Anderson County) is one of the underclassmen ideally suited to reset the Maverick program after a fantastic season. In 2018-2019, Anderson County won 19 games, including nine D3AAA victories. Alas, the team graduated five key seniors.

The wingspan hints at more growth for Class of 2022 prospect Connor Martin. For the majority of his basketball development to this point, Martin clearly focused on playing the role of “big man.” With a wingspan nearly 6-foot-8, Connor Martin might just grow into that prototypical college 4/5. Entering his sophomore season, the 6-foot-3 Martin is capable on the blocks and still speeding up his feet away from that comfort zone.
His 13.72 time in the lane agility was below average, but consider events like these are generally overly populated with guards…and it was. Still, Connor needs to get quicker laterally to expand his defensive range.
Strengths of Connor include handle at his size. He doesn’t have the quickness to defend away from the basket. He does have the beginnings of a combo forward handle. As a left-hander Connor gets quickly from his strong hand dribble into his shooting motion. Martin’s release point is attractively high. He is better dribbling to his left and the shot looks more smooth when he dribbles towards his shooting hand.
At his size Connor Martin is kind of a tweener currently. Developing his handle further helps regardless of his ultimate position. Improving foot speed is absolutely the #1 priority. There were not many chances to show his low block arsenal, but Connor would certainly benefit from incorporating a baby hook with each hand.
