33 varsity teams and one JV battled it out for 3 days. High level competition brought out the best in everyone. Teams learned a lot about themselves in some tough games and hopefully they can take it with them into next weeks live period.
Here were some of the players that I viewed that can shoot the cover off the ball:
Trenton McLaughlin SG 6’3 2021 Basha
-One of the top shooters regardless of class. Can get hot as quick as his shooting release. Has nice size and constantly moves without the ball. His catch-3 is top flight and he can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket as well.
Daniel Gomez SG 6’0 2020 Phoenix Country Day
-Catch and shoot specialist. Very smart moving without the ball and getting to the open spots. Quick shooting release and can put the ball on the deck and use the floater. High IQ all-around player.
Jake Hahn SG 6’2 2021 Desert Mountain
-Consistent shooter from deep and a very good passer. He has good strength and is a cerebral player.
Keiran Carr SG 5’11 2021 Arcadia
-Long and lean shooter has a smooth stroke. He has a quick release and seems like the next one is always going in.
Darius Ward SG 5’10 2020 McClintock
-Lefty has a fast stroke and good speed. He loves the corners and can rattle off shots. He handles the ball well and will be a top-2 scorer for his team along with Chance Garland.
CJ Noder SG 5’9 2020 Basha
-Another dead-eye shooter is mostly off the catch. The high academic guard is very cerebral and always seems to hit shots when it matters.
Shakir Galab SG 6’0 2020 Moon Valley
-Quick athletic scorer can shoot it. He will be a perfect compliment next to Hudgens and Burries in the season.
Elias Vargas SG 6’2 2020 San Tan Charter
-Consistent shooter has great length. He moves smartly without the ball and he is good on the break making tough layups.
