The AZ Compass Prep squad looked very solid and they’re without two of their top players. Maxwell Lewis and Frankie Collins looked really good per usual. Collins showed again why he is one of the top point guards in the nation and Lewis showed off some ridiculous athleticism. Newcomer, Sincere Parker, also looked good. He is a lot more athletic than he looks and showed he can knock down shots.
Tri-City had the unfortunate draw against AZ Compass Prep however I was impressed with Fallou Diagne. He ran guard for most of the time and looked pretty decent. He showed that he is a mobile big man that can shoot. I can definitely see a very high ceiling/potential for this kid.
South Mountain’s guards were really solid tonight. They have a nice young trio with Isaiah Freeney, DeOtis Nunn, and LJ Ginnis. SM has strong guard play but lacks size outside of Damarion Pouncil, which looked to be a huge issue when matched up against Sunnyslope.
Sunnyslope’s Elijah Saunders looked very tough tonight as well. He is showing more versatility to his game and looked very comfortable shooting it from deep. Saunders is a recent Sunnyslope transfer, from Rancho Solano.
In the final games of the night, JT Elder shined. He played with a lot of confidence and even hit a couple deep shots. He is still very raw but is showing steady improvement. Elder has so much potential, it’s basically falling out of his pockets.
