There were 200+ prep athletes invited from 33 states across the nation in the 2021, 2022 and 2023 classes. Several players tabbed in ESPN’s National Top 25 were in attendance, as well as Team USA National Head Coach Don Showalter, SLAM Magazine and others.
The Buckeye state players represented well, with multiple names popping up on Sunday’s All-Star event.
Ohio Buckets:
The Buckets sent five players to the camp:
– 2021 Mitch Raifsnider (Margaretta)
– 2022 Max Roth (Findlay)
– 2022 Isaac Roeder (Monroeville)
– 2023 Logan Beaston (Tiffin)
– 2023 Daylen Green (Sandusky)
Of the list, Raifsnider and Roth secured All-Star honors and competed against the camp’s best on Sunday. Raifsnider stood tall and at 6’8” he altered several shots, rebounded the ball extremely effectively, and finished a powerful put back dunk in Saturday’s lead-up games. The 2021 prospect displayed an excellent 15′ game and was active on both ends of the floor. 2022 Max Roth showed consistency in handling the rock against quick and athletic guards, and slashed to the rim to make plays or assist. He was poised and showed very good decision-making all weekend, an area of focus for camp directors. He scored the ball efficiently and took what was given most of the weekend.
Team Flyght:
Team Flyght sent eight players to the camp:
– 2021 Isaiah Ramey (Cedarville)
– 2021 Carter Mims (Trotwood)
– 2021 Nate Johnson (Lakota East)
– 2021 AJ Braun (Bishop Fenwick)
– 2021 Maro Egodotaye (Dayton Carroll)
– 2021 Tyler Montague (Vandalia Butler)
– 2022 Shawn Phillips (Dayton Belmont)
– 2022 Malique Marrow (Dayton Meadowdale)
Of the list, Ramey, Mims, Johnson, Braun, Egodotaye and Phillips made Sunday’s All-Star teams. Nate Johnson was his usual self, dominating defenders off the dribble and locking down on defense. Nate is physically ready for the next level and showed why he is so difficult to guard at the high school level. His explosiveness and ability to penetrate was on display all weekend. 2022 Shawn
Phillips was also a hot topic. At 6’9″ Shawn showed tremendous shot-blocking and rim-protecting abilities, and moved very well around the interior. Facing size like his own was not an issue as he finished around the rim and played with a high intensity all weekend.
