AJ Casey (Tinley Park)
Current Ranking: #1
Travel Team: Meanstreets
Casey is the best prospect in the state’s freshman class and one of the truly elite prospects regardless of class in Illinois. Casey is a five-star talent nationally because of his rare combination of size, mobility, and skill on the interior. Such a bright future for this young man! He brings versatility to play both inside and on the perimeter. On the interior he can score with his back to the basket, rebounds well, and is a major shot blocking presence. On the perimeter he can put it on the deck a little and shows potential as a shooter. Runs the floor tremendously well. Recently announced he will be transferring to Tinley Park from Simeon for his sophomore campaign.
Kyle Thomas (St. Joseph)
Current Ranking: #3
Travel Team: Illinois Wolves
First thing that stands out about Thomas is he has a projectable frame. Broad shoulders and a frame that should easily be able to carry 25-30 more pounds as time goes on. Coordination is still a work in progress, but he does show off potential with a couple big dunks every game. Decent footwork. Thomas was absolute force swatting shots at Run N Slam! Right now his defense is ahead of his offense. Elite level shot blocker!
Robbie Avila (Oak Forest)
Current Ranking: #5
Travel Team: Oak Forest
Avila is very mobile on the interior being able to use both hands to score with a soft touch. Fluid footwork and post moves on the block. Avila can space the floor with his spot up shooting from mid-range and three. He had a monster freshman season scoring and rebounding well for a first year player on the high school level. Avila plays on circuit with loaded Meanstreets squad. Bright future for this big man!
Damarkus Bean (Metro East Lutheran)
Current Ranking: #16
Travel Team: Southwest Jets
This 6’6” Metro East Lutheran post is a big bodied post that was a dominant rebounder in his area. Long arms allow him to grab rebounds at their highest point. Very intriguing young post with projectability. A lot of upside.
Sam Bradbury (Mattoon)
Current Ranking: #33
Travel Team: Illinois Irish
Wide bodied five man who was a bit raw when we saw him during the high school season, but definitely flashed potential. Powerful finishing around the hoop. Decent area rebounder. Definitely a young big man to track!
Lance Rodgers (Simeon)
Current Ranking: #35
Travel Team: Young & Reckless
Rodgers is an intriguing post at about 6’5” with broad shoulders and long arms. Should continue to grow. Athletic and angular forward that has the prospect look. Put himself on the map at Havoc in the Heartland.
