This spring/summer will be a huge stepping stone for the 2022 class. We will debut the top 40-50 in July. Big things are coming for this class.
Barry Dunning (McGill-Toolen)- Barry has size, skill, and athleticism. At 6’6 this kid can play inside/out and impact the game on both ends. Barry has the ability to be a 3 level scorer. An area for improvement is his playmaking off the bounce, but coaches are already liking what they see.
Will Shaver (Oak Mountain)- The 6’8 big has the potential to be the best prospect in this class. Will impacts the game on both ends with his rebounding and length. This kid has really good footwork and range out to the 3 point line. Will will be a HM level prospect.
Tyrese Elliot (Sparkman)- Tyrese is a solid 6’1 combo guard. This kid was one of the best players at the UAB play date. He is a 3 level scorer, a good perimeter rebounder, and a very good athlete. Tyrese gets caught gambling at times, but he is a highlight waiting to happen. Ole Miss and UAB have already offered.
Antonio Kite (Anniston)- Antonio is the best point guard in this class. This kid has really good vision and control of the game. Was surprised to see how well he plays out of ball screens already. Antonio has the ability to score from all 3 levels. Alabama and UAB have already offered.
Martavious Russell (Sipsey Valley)- Martavious may look super skinny, but the 6’3 wing can play. This kid is way more athletic than he appears. He plays above the rim, can knock down open shots, and guards 1-3. The next step in his development should be becoming a better playmaker.
Knute Wood (Brooks)- Knute is a 6’3 shooting guard who plays with a very high IQ. He is deceptively athletic and has shown the ability to score at all 3 levels. This kid is a very good passer as well. Coaches love how competitive and hard Knute plays.
Calen Lightford (Sparkman)- Don’t let his size fool you, Calen can play. He is a very good shooter and is not afraid to battle on the glass. Calen is an underrated defender. At UAB’s play date, the 5’9 point guard showed very good vision and playmaking ability.
Jonathan Murray (Huffman)- Jonathan is a 6’6 forward who is athletic, active on both ends, and has really good range. As he continues developing his ball skill, Jonathan will be able to play inside/out. This already possess a solid mixture of size and skill.
J’Quan Broxson (Geneva Co)- J’Quan is one of the better athletes in the class, and that is saying something. He already possesses the size at 6’5 and the skill set to be a very dominant wing. His competitive spirit and activity on defense and the glass really stand out.
Dresean Knight (Minor)- This kid is big (6’9). Dresean is an impact defensive player and monster on the glass. This kid is a very good shot blocker and held his own against Will Shaver this spring. His offense is still a work in progress, but Dresean has the potential to be one of the best bigs in the class.
