The class of 2022 point guards is an interesting one. There is more players here than any other position, which isn’t abnormal, but the top end is a little thin so far as we wait to see where these guys develop. With Tayshawn Comer (Cathedral) and Leland Walker (North Central) at the top, we have a pair of DI talents to give you some players of note.
Beyond that, we have a hodgepodge of guys that are clearly talented, but need to separate themselves. Nick Klaiber (Bloomington North), Dayveon Turner (Anderson), and Jalen Jackson (Fort Wayne Carroll) have done that a little bit this spring and that is how they all moved up a bit in our minds. However, #6-15 are kind of all together. There will need to be some more separation there.
But, we have added some new talent with 11 new players on the list this time around. Jalen Jackson is at the top but Kaden Stanton (New Albany) looks like a potential stud in this class along with some intriguing names down the list like Ifeanyi Ezeakudo (Homestead), Jonah Pennington (Indianapolis Pike), and Garrett Yoon (Lawrenceburg) who all have older brothers who we have watched and scouted previously.
Overall, this is a good start but probably the position that needs the most development and added depth near the top of the class. With only 27 prospects so far, we expect to add quite a few more pretty quickly here.
