It was a matchup full of champions. From Steph Curry to Klay Thompson to Kawhi Leonard to Fred VanVleet, there were players with the mentailty needed to be champions.
It can get us thinking. What high school players in Michigan have the same champions mentailty that we saw in the NBA Finals?
Here are 5 players that have the mental makeup of a champion:
Maliq Carr (6’6″, SF, Oak Park)
Carr is an elite national prospect in multiple sports. There’s a reason for this. He’s a grinder and a fighter that just knows how to win. Carr is dangerous when he gets the ball near the free throw line and bulldogs his way to the rim.
Bryce George (6’6″, F, DEPSA)
George is a multi sport star. He’s a perfectionist that knows what it takes to be great and to win. George has been a monster on the glass at both ends of the floor.
Carlos Johnson (6’6″, SF, Benton Harbor)
Johnson is an elite prospect on a national scale. In fact, I firmly believe that he’s a top 100 player in his class in the country. Johnson is a walking double-double in points and rebounds. He’s a nightmare for opponents to match up with.
Luke Laketa (6’4″, G, Hanover Horton)
Laketa is a small town star that has been under appreciated in the state for far too long. The kid can flat out play. Laketa is a next level player and nobody should be surprised if he leads Hanover-Horton to a state championship next season.
Jarvis Walker (6’2″, PG, Muskegon)
Walker comes from a family full of basketball stars. Guess what? He’s continuing that tradition. Walker is as steady as they come with the ball. He recognizes good scoring opportunities and takes advantage of them. Walker has as high of a basketball IQ as anyone in Michigan.
