Continue ReadingThe senior from UMS-Wright has been on fire during June. He dropped 50 in a game at South Alabama’s team camp. He averaged 31 during Tulane’s team camp. Bonham has shown improved scoring ability while being a great playmaker off the bounce. We expect the 5’11 point guard to have a big time showing at the AHSAA Elite 100.
Strengths
Efficient with the ball. Tight handle. Gets his teammates involved. Low turnover percentage (3.6:1 assist to turnover ratio in Adidas Gauntlet play). Can knock down open 3s. At his best attacking in transition and getting down hill. Rebounds very well from the perimeter. Very good on ball defender with quick hands.
Weaknesses
Smaller point guard (5’11-6’0). Not a very good 3 point shooter (30%). Gambles too much as an off ball defender. Can he guard both guard spots with his lack of size? Can he make the proper reads over longer defenders? Can Trey play more without the ball?
Overview
Bonham is one of the most improved 2020 players in the state. At the Elite 100 he will have the opportunity to showcase his talent and answer any questions people have about his ability. Talent wise Bonham is a top 10 player in the state. If this kid continues to improve, he can take himself from a LM prospect to the MM level.
