Strengths
Soft hands. Plays well from the low block. Comfortable finishing over both shoulders, but he is better finishing over his left shoulder. Can shoot out to 18ft. Keeps balls alive on the glass. Hard to keep out of the paint. Moves very well for his size. Can put it on the floor for 2-3 dribbles. Great footwork. Extremely coachable.
Weaknesses
At his best playing in spurts. Gets fatigued too quick. Needs to improve his conditioning and body. Gets sloppy offensively when tired. Not an explosive athlete. Protects the rim, but is not a great shot blocker. Does not demand the ball enough.
Overview
Shannon Grant is loaded with potential. If the 6’10 big can improve his body and conditioning, he would demand more attention from college coaches. This kid is coachable and has the tools to be an impact big. Biggest areas of concern are physique related, but from what we have seen, Grant is addressing those concerns. Mid Major schools need to be all over this kid.
