Continue ReadingKam Woods is arguably the most explosive and entertaining offensive player in the 2020 class. This kid has been a special talent in the Birmingham area from an early age. Woods is a 2 time Player of the Year. Woods put up some solid numbers in his junior season at Pinson Valley (25-4-3), but this year on the EYBL Circuit he has been inconsistent. Woods performed well at the AHSAA Elite 100 over the weekend.
Strengths
Crafty ball handler. Excels in iso situations and in the open court. Has the ability to score from all 3 levels. Finishes well through contact in spite of his smaller frame/build. Deep range. Good shooting mechanics. Good at changing speeds and direction. Controls pace well. Comfortable playing off the ball. Fearless.
Weaknesses
His high school vs EYBL season has been Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Volume scorer who lacks consistency. Under developed as a playmaker. Ball sticks to his hands too much. Lacks positional size. Can only guard 1 position. Gambles too much defensively. Lazy help defender. Listed at 6’0, but is probably smaller.
Overview
Woods is a talented player without question. The perfect player comparison for Woods is former Texas Longhorn, AJ Abrams. This kid has the skill set to be a very good player, but there are certain areas where he has to show more development to play at a higher level. Right now, Kam is a LM prospect. If he shows more efficiency and consistency, MM level schools may take a chance on him.
