We feel that the updates match the performances of this class very well. We are excited to continue to add to the list. Here are a couple things we noticed as we head into June.
1A and 1B. Colby Jones and Rongie Gordon have started to separate themselves from the pack and could be ranked 1 or 2. We don’t see much distance between the two, and the HM offers and developmental improvements show that. Jones has been a critical piece for the Alabama Fusion, and Gordon has shown the ability to play more out on the perimeter.
New Top 10. The top 10 experienced some shuffling as there are new faces in the group, but the state also lost a national top 50 talent in Jayden Stone to Sunshine Christian (KS). Team Carroll’s Jalen Myers and Trey Bonham have entered the top 10. Pro One Select’s Giancarlo Valdez made the highest jump due to his consistent performances for his club. Dallas Howell fell out of the top 10 due to experiencing a knee injury that will not allow him to compete through the summer. Eager to see this kid back on the floor. Kam Woods also fell out of the top 10. Woods is an explosive offensive player who relies on volume shooting, and he has not performed consistently or been efficient enough through the spring. Woods can work himself back into the top 10 with strong outings to cap the summer.
Perimeter Depth. This class is packed full of talent at all 3 perimeter spots. There are gems at each spot. Something worth noting is the ability for these prospects to play multiple positions on the perimeter. The more well rounded a prospect is, the better off he will be. College coaches want players that can play the game in multiple spots. Guys like Tommy Murr, Giancarlo Valdez, Sam Youngblood, Austin Harvell, and Sedrick Pettway have really progressed this summer on/off the ball.
D2-LM Prospects. The 2020 class is going to produce some MM and HM level prospects, but the majority of this class is going to be very successful as D2-LM level athletes. Guys like Hayden Lamey, Chance Beard, Nick Bonifay, Camron Scott, Titus Griffin, and Geraldo Lane would be excellent fits at those levels.
