Continue ReadingIn August we will extend out the 2020 rankings to over 100 players (80 currently) and probably end up when they graduate with 150 or so, just like the 2019 class that had 155 ranked.
As AAU shuts down and we head into the HS month of June ball, lets look at which CG’s have been playing well and will most likely be in the next big group of rankings. We will put them in tiers for now.
These are not official rankings as many things will still be sorted out.
Tier-1
1. Dayten Holman 6’5 (Hillcrest Prep) Long and tall guard who makes plays for others and is a nightmare defender.
2. Tay Boothman 6’0 (Buckeye) Quick shooter who gets hot just as fast as anyone on the list.
3. Brandyn Talbot 6’4 (Bella Vista Prep) True CG with great size who shoots it and handles it.
Tier-2
4. Brycen Long 6’2 (Gilbert) Pure jumper who can slide over and play the 1.
5. Trey Donaldson 6’2 (PHH Prep) Uber athletic scoring lead guard.
6. Chance Garland 6’5 (McClintock) May be top athlete regardless of position and is a very good play-maker.
Tier-3
7. Eric Blackwell 5’11 (CDS) Tough on-ball defender who makes shots.
8. Paul Maldonado 6’0 (Gilbert) Another tough and cerebral defender who is a good shooter.
9. JD Feagles 6’2 (Horizon) Dead-eye shooter from deep can play on the ball as well.
10. Tyrese Rogers 6’0 (Boulder Creek) Another shooter who can play both spots.
11. Robbie Devries 6’4 (Millennium) Bigger guard who moved in from Texas. Can be a lead guard and shoot it.
Tier-4
12. Zaiah Gonzales CG 6’0 (Mesquite) Pure jumper who is very unselfish.
13. Tyriall Carenthers 5’9 (Chavez) Quick and strong scoring guard.
14. Tanner Crandall 5’10 (Highland) Strong shooter who can play on or off the ball.
15. Josh Oliver 6’0 (American Leadership Academy-Gilbert) Strong and smart scoring lead guard.
4 other CG’s to keep a look out for in the 2020 rankings:
1. Robbie Kinnard 5’9 (Shadow Mountain) May be a true PG but shoots it well from mid to the 3pt line.
2. Quest Williams 6’0 (Poston Butte) Athletic guard who gets downhill and can make plays.
3. Jaquan Moore 5’10 (Shadow Ridge) Bouncy two way player who plays both spots.
4. Kalen Russell 5’11 (Casteel) Fast scoring lead guard can play both spots.
