It was a busy slate between the eight courts that were set up. I took in nine games on the day.
Here is a look at the top standouts from Saturday.
Tyrecke Francois (Blanche Ely)
2020 6’0″ guard Tyrecke Francois made things happen from the jump with a roster of just six guys for Blanche Ely. He was instinctive, quick and in total control of the offense. Francois drilled a mid-range floater at the halftime buzzer with two defenders in his face. He is going to be the guy for Blanche Ely, who has a revamped group but is still super tough to beat.
Mike Trigg (Seffner Christian)
The talk of the gym came around 8 PM when 2021 6’4″ guard Mike Trigg threw down a body against Superior Collegiate (video below). He was dominant in that game, doing just about anything that he wanted as an attacker, distributor and pusher in transition. Trigg is a physical specimen. At the college that has offered him for both basketball and football, Trigg is quickly rising up the rankings.
Khalil Shaheed (Superior Collegiate)
Against Seffner Christian in the packed gym, 2020 6’3 guard Khalil Shaheed proved that he is not only a crafty attacker but a tough one at that. An energy player with a ton of vocalness, he was putting his body on the line time and time again in that game with his drives to the hoop. Shaheed also took smart jumpers and set up his teammates for alley oops often.
Eric Butler (Orlando Christian Prep)
At 6’4″, 2020 guard Eric Butler was a true aggressor for Orlando Christian Prep all day long. Against Blanche Ely and Suncoast, he was doing it all for his side. A very elusive athlete, Butler is a clear-cut Division I player and someone that continues to get better every time I see him. His form on his jumper is reliable and he plays with a ton of pace.
Jordan Sears (Mainland)
Undersized at 5’10”, 2020 Mainland guard Jordan Sears is the heart and soul of his group. He is a vocal leader and someone that knows how to play the game the right way. Sears is a fierce and quick athlete and one that doesn’t shy away from pressure. On a younger Mainland team, look for him to have a standout senior campaign.
Rivers Lenholt (St. Pete)
It has been an adjustment period for 2020 6’2″ guard Rivers Lenholt at his new stomping grounds. He transferred from Canterbury to St. Pete for his senior year. A few weeks ago, he made his debut with the Green Devils in the Marreese Speights Summer League and it took some time to settle in. But I’m sure if you ask him and his peers, things have gotten better quick. Lenholt was hitting 3’s from the corner with ease and finishing near the cup in a win against Belen Jesuit.
Amarchi Ujagbor (Pembroke Pines Charter)
Always noticeable on the floor at 6’6″, 2020 forward Amarchi Ujagbor is someone college coaches always will come to watch. He was really good at times out on the break and he created a lot of havoc near the rim for Pembroke Pines Charter. Ujagbor has all the physical tools, but can certainly better his jumper and ballhandling as an undersized four at the next level.
Antwan Walker (Santa Fe Catholic)
Coming over from Ridge Community, 2020 6’1″ guard Antwan Walker has added a new dynamic for Santa Fe Catholic’s offense. He was weaving by defenders and scoring often for his group against a later game versus St. Pete. Walker is going to be a consistent scoring threat and one that can create all on his own.
