After hosting the first ever NCAA Georgia team camp last weekend, the committee decided to also have a top 100 camp during the June live period. A plethora of college coaches were in attendance at McEachern, including schools like Clemson, Georgia, South Florida, Florida State, Florida, Auburn, Vanderbilt, Witchita State, Xavier, Georgia Tech, Gardner-Webb, Alabama, UAB, and others. Here we take a look at which prospets opened eyes.
2022 PG Sterling “Scoota” Henderson of Kell High School pictured
The rising sophomore, Sterling “Scoota” Henderson, in my opinion, is the number prospect in the state of Georgia in the 2022 class. After impressing at last weekend team camp with Kell High School, Henderson opened eyes once again this weekend. He is a 6-foot-2 point guard with good size at his age and position. Sterling has that high IQ already at the point guard position and knowns exactly how to utilize his body against his opponents. He holds a mature game and his upside is off the charts. He will certainly be a nationally known name by the end of the summer circuit.
2020 F Giancarlo Sanchez of Trinity Christian
Sanchez was a prospect I bragged about a few months ago dating back to the beginning of the 2018-2019 high school season. Giancarlo shined this weekend at the NCAA Georgia Top 100 Camp. How? You may ask. He is a 6-foot-7 plus forward who just knows how to play the right way. He is not the flashiest or the most dominate forward, but he is a fundamentally sounded one with solid footwork. Sanchez has sneaky athleticism, can get a bucket down low inside the rim, and can also step outside the paint and hit a few jumpers. An underrated prospect in the state.
2020 SG Patrick Carter Jr. of Langston Hughes High School
The 6-foot-2 shooting guard, Patrick Carter Jr., put his skills on display this weekend at McEachern. After comming off a solid junior campaign, Carter Jr. has been looking to earn a few more interest from college coaches and scouts before the summer is over. He is a sharpshooter from the perimeter and can easily get hot in a blink of an eye. He lacks strength and size for now, but Patrick is a major perimeter threat and spreads the defense with his shooting skills fairly well. His off-ball movement is also a skill Patrick holds and should be a target for low majors next month.
