2019 Final Player Rankings: Point Guard Analysis
The final 2019 player rankings were released this week. Today we break down some of the top point guards listed who are expected to make an impact at the next level:
Top Dawg: De’Vion Harmon has been given the title as the number one point guard in the state, but this decision was not an easy one. After an underperforming senior year from Harmon, Sahvir Wheeler and Isaiah Stevens looked very suitable for the top spot. However, Harmon’s resume, physical attributes, athleticism, and dexterity inside was too much pass up on. The four-star gold medalist has a chance to be a very productive floor general in Norman next fall if he does not worry about his statistical success.
Coming on Strong: Kharee McDaniel was unconscious in the postseason. He torched teams with his scoring ability off the bounce and led his team to an appearance to the UIL 6A State Championship Game. His fearlessness and confidence will easily translate to Stephen F. Austin from day one.
Best Fit: Isaiah Stevens is bound to make an impact at Colorado State from the jump. The three-star guard provides the leadership that most coaching staffs crave. He is a poised playmaker with a sky-high I.Q. and one who will consistently cash in on good looks from long range. Stevens will most likely be handed the keys to lead the Rams’ program over the next four years.
Biggest Sleeper: Tariq Aman is as true of a point guard as there is in this class and I honestly believe he is going to Temple Junior College because coaches are being fooled by the size. However, you cannot ignore the leadership, proper decision-making, and toughness he supplies. Once he finishes his two-year college career, coaches should ultimately value his undeniable traits.
