Continue ReadingNLHA 17U has a roster that is mixed with some of the top talent in Kansas. With four of their top players ranked by Prep Hoops, with Easton Hunter being as high as 15th. Losing only one game last weekend, look for NLHA to be in the winners bracket in most tournaments this summer.
15th ranked- Easton Hunter- 2020- 6’2 Andale HS
Easton Hunter explodes on to the circuit with one of the smoothest games displayed this summer. At 6’2 he is a versatile player, attacks the rim with both hands, can finish with both hands. Right handed player, Hunter makes you think he is left hand dominate, with how comfortable he is with the ball. Rebounding the ball for his size against bigger opponents is what sets him apart from your average guard. Shooting is not a problem for Hunter, going under screens on him would be mistake. He can go the link of the court and finish at the rim, in transition is where he thrives. It’s going to be an exciting summer for Hunter as he looks to continue his dominate play through the summer.
21st ranked-Thomas King-2020- 6’5 Campus HS
Thomas king is player with a lot of upside and is making his presence known early this summer. At 6’5 he rebounds out of his area and will defend at the rim or on the perimeter. He is a threat to knock down shots from the perimeter and talented enough to blow past defenders. Loves to shot fake and use his two dribbles to pull up for mid range jump shots. A strong re-bounder, King understands how to create space and use his athleticism to track down rebounds on both ends. Coaches will want to keep note, King has a chance to make an impact with a big summer.
26th Ranked- Harper Jonas- 2020- 6’3 Andover HS
The NLHA Gaddis is loaded with talent and with Harper Jonas on the squad, solidifies that statement. What makes Jonas a defensive match up problem is the way he can score the ball inside and out. Knowledgeable of the game, he knows how to read defenses and makes the right cuts to the rim. Not standing and watching, posting up smaller guards, bringing the post out from the paint. Being athletic with long arms, he will block a few shots and thrives with his on ball defense. Impressive handles as he can switch gears in mid stride to the rim. A very fun player to watch, he will most likely be a kid on the rise this summer.
#48th Ranked- Zach Davidson- 2020- 6’7 Augusta HS
A banger on the block, Zach Davidson is the go to guy to finish around the rim. A post player with great foot work and a soft touch around the rim, gives him an advantage offensively. What coaches love to see is a post player have a motor and Davidson has that and more. Very aggressive on both sides of the floor, not afraid to push it in transition. Knows how to read the defense and sets screens that will create an opening for the ball handler and himself. Rebounds with authority, two hands and chins it, looking for the outlet. If he continues to play at a high level, he should have some offers at the end of the summer.
