College Commitments
Justin Bieker (2019 Jesuit) to San Francisco – There were options at various levels but Bieker’s goal at the outset was to find at least a walk-on opportunity at a West Coast Conference school and he found just that at San Francisco. The reason the lanky 6-foot-5 swingman chose the Dons over a similar opportunity at Loyola Marymount was the fact that he was guaranteed a scholarship at USF after walking on first. The first team 6A All-State and All-Tournament Team member is the first from Jesuit’s title team to move on to the Division I level.
Josh Angle (2019 Lake Oswego) to Claremont-McKenna – After investigating the option of going to prep school for a year, Angle decided on the Division III program that suited him the best both on and off the court in Claremont-McKenna. The 6-foot-2 guard had entered the year hoping to attract the attention of an Ivy League school, but when that didn’t come to pass he became one of the hottest Division III recruits in recent memory. In the end it was Claremont-McKenna that was the best fit and he should be able to make an instant impact as a freshman.
Aidan Martin (2019 Grant) to Carleton (MN) – Martin served as a backup guard to Aaron Deloney and Ty Rankin this past season at Grant but also helped out up front as needed. The high-academic 6-foot-2 senior will get to continue his playing career at Division III Carleton.
Josiah Roth (2019 Silverton) to Corban – Silverton had a solid group of seniors that helped lead the Silver Foxes to state and Roth was steady on the wing all season long. The 6-foot-4 guard found the right fit close to home at Corban and he should be a solid four-year program guy.
Andrew Reynolds (2019 Henley) to Northwest Christian – Reynolds transferred to Henley for his senior season from Mazama and helped the team reach the 4A state tournament. The 6-foot-1 combo guard was looking at opportunities right at home at OIT, down in California at Simpson, and up I-5 at George Fox, but ended up settling for something in the middle at Northwest Christian.
Isaac Lange (2019 Thurston) to Lane CC – Lange will stay close to home at Lane with the intent of moving on to the next level after possibly only one season. The 6-foot-1 point guard had initially verbally committed to Lane not long after the season ended but started to receive some interest from Colby (KS) CC and also saw Lane head coach Joe White leave for Idaho State. But trainer Matt Zosel was named interim head coach and Lange decided to stick with the Titans.
Transfer
Myles Fitzgerald-Warren (2017 Madison/Fresno State) to Collin (TX) CC – Fitzgerald-Warren earned a late scholarship to Fresno State where he played sparingly as a freshman in 2017-18 and did not play this season. Since he’d probably have to sit out another year had he gone directly to another Division I school, Fitzgerald-Warren will go the JC route and has signed with Collin (TX) CC which plays in the highly competitive Region V which is highly scouted by D-I/D-II/NAIA schools.
Decommitment
Khalid Thomas (2017 West Linn/College of Southern Idaho) – Thomas had signed with Texas Tech in the fall but despite the Red Raiders run to the national title game, the 6-foot-7 forward decided that he would be better off at another spot and requested a release from his LOI. He’s now apparently looking at something a little closer to home and is making official visits to Oregon and Arizona this weekend and things could move pretty quickly after those trips.
Scholarship Offer
Wayne McKinney (2021 Lake Oswego) – The offers keep on rolling in for McKinney. The latest for the dynamic 5-foot-10 point guard from Lake Oswego? Fresno State.
Other Tidbits
With the recent commitments, the highest-rated player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2019 rankings that remains unsigned is #7 Keylin Vance (2019 Jefferson). He continues to play with International Elite and is looking at signing with a NJCAA program… Damonte Burns, previously 2021 Parkrose, announced that he will be playing the 2019-20 season at Clackamas. There he will join fellow Rose City Rebels teammate Ben Gregg… Keyshawn Hall has been spending this spring playing with the Rose City Rebels and will be staying in Portland going into the summer. The 6-foot point guard has started attending classes at Jefferson and will be in the Class of 2021… In AAU moves, Nate Rawlins-Kibonge (2021 Jefferson), Jalen Adams (2021 Jefferson), Emmanual Steward (2020 Grant), and Elijah Munyan (2021 Columbia Christian) have all moved to The Hoop Salem program. Steward and Munyan will join one of the 17U squads while Rawlins-Kibonge and Adams will join the top 16U team.
