College Commitments
RJ Veliz (2019 Woodburn) to St. Martin’s – Veliz finished his high school career as one of the highest scoring players in state history at all levels. There was college recruiting interest all they way from Division I (walk-on opportunity at Portland) to Division II and NAIA offers to Division III possibilities. Through it all, the Woodburn guard decided that St. Martin’s was the best fit – even though the coach that recruited him (Alex Pribble) left the job to be a D-I assistant.
Amari Hale (2017 Central Catholic/Eastern Arizona JC) to Alaska-Anchorage – Hale had a breakout senior season at Central Catholic and despite being also a great football player, he decided on hoops as his college future. Hale played his freshman season at Midland College in Texas, but decided to transfer to Eastern Arizona for this past year where he was one of the team’s leading scorers and assist men. He got some Division I looks but decided on Alaska-Anchorage due to an existing relationship with one of the assistant coaches.
Amari Stafford (2017 Jefferson/Eastern Arizona JC) to Central Washington – Stafford was a member of Jefferson’s 2017 6A title team and after a couple of solid seasons at Eastern Arizona, will move on to Central Washington. At 6-foot-6, Stafford is athletic and should be able to contribute immediately especially on the defensive end.
Parker Gaddis (2015 Southridge/Clark-WA CC) to Colorado-Colorado Springs – Gaddis graduated from Southridge in 2015 and played a year at Clackamas before dealing with hip surgery that shelved him for the next two years. He played this past year at Clark to restablish himself and became a big D-II prospect and visited a few school before deciding on Colorado-Colorado Springs for his last two years of eligibility.
Riley Nichol (2019 Stayton) to Puget Sound – The truth of the matter is that Nichol was going to commit to Puget Sound, it was just a matter of when the financial aid piece would be worked out so that it would be feasible for him to go there. That all was finalized this week and the 6-foot-7 stretch four made it known that he would be a Logger next season. Nichol will finish out the AAU season with Elite 24 but is for certain headed to Puget Sound in the fall.
Micah Jenkins (2019 Stayton) to Corban – Stayton was largely centered around big men Kaleb Anundi and Riley Nichol, but Jenkins served at times as a solid third option offensively. At 6-foot-5 he provided some size on the wing and he had the ability to hit the open shot. Corban saw enough to offer Jenkins some scholarship money and he recently signed with the Warriors.
Abdi Dahir (2018 David Douglas/Las Vegas Prep) to Central Wyoming CC – Dahir spent the 2018-19 season at Las Vegas Prep where he was able to catch the attention of a number of national JC programs, but he settled on attending Central Wyoming – where he will join Darius Guinn (2018 Grant) who had a good freshman season.
Transfer
Filip Fullerton (2018 Southridge/Portland State) to Seattle Pacific – Fullerton entered the transfer portal after the season with Portland State and has decided to continue his career at the Division II level at Seattle Pacific. He only got into five games and received a medical redshirt, so he will have four years of eligibility remaining at Seattle Pacific. He joins a star studded freshman class and should get immediate playing time as one of the bigger players in the GNAC at 6-foot-10.
Scholarship Offers
Nathan Bittle (2021 Crater) – Bittle has garnered plenty of attention up and down the West Coast and has pretty much picked up scholarship offers from all of the top programs in the Pacific Time Zone. This week, the 6-foot-11 sophomore garnered an offer from Wake Forest as his reputation now expands onto the East Coast.
Wayne McKinney (2021 Lake Oswego) – Big week for the Lake Oswego point guard as he picked up not one – but two new offers from UC Santa Barbara and Boise State. McKinney continues to run with the San Diego Slayers 16U squad and obviously getting noticed as a result.
