I’ve watched many knockdown shooters and here are 15 players that are under the radar.
2020
Jake Murphy SG 6’4 Arcadia HS (Powerhouse Hoops Black 17)
-The younger brother of Air Force commit Carter Murphy is making his own name and shooting the ball at a high level.
Cam Faas SG 6’5 Arcadia HS (Zone-6 Black 17)
-The new player on the block has one of the purest strokes out there. He has good size and a clean stroke. Shoots the ball effortlessly. (Pictured on cover).
Jackson Risi SG 6’2 Desert Vista HS (Blue Chip Nation/Legion of Hoops 17)
-Risi may be the hottest shooter on the circuit with an ultra quick release.
Anthony Irvin SG 6’3 Corona del Sol HS (Prime Basketball 17)
-Irvin turned heads in the ACBL. He has deep range and high confidence.
Aidan Blaylock SF 6’5 Sunrise Mountain HS (Arizona Rebels 2020)
-Blaylock is growing taller and keeps improving in all aspects including his more consistent shooting.
JD Feagles CG 6’1 Horizon HS (Powerhouse Hoops 17U White 17)
-Fast improving guard can light it up quickly. Clean release and can handle it like a lead guard.
Caleb Alonso SF 6’6 Desert Ridge HS (Legion Of Hoops White 17)
-Long lefty shooter with a nice looking stroke. Knows how to move without the ball.
Zaiah Gonzales CG 6’0 Mesquite HS (Team Arizona Platinum 17)
-True combo guard with a consistent jumper. Plays more of a lead guard role but probably should shoot more moving forward.
Devin Ash SG 6’0 Mesquite HS (Team Arizona Platinum 17)
-Pure specialist for the AAU team. Quick release and consistent approach.
2021
Colin Carey SF 6’6 Sunrise Mountain HS (Factory 16)
-Carey has had the biggest off-season so far of anyone on this list. The future college player seems to get rolling quicker than anyone in the soph class.
Joe Kelsey PG 5’10 Desert Ridge HS (Prime Basketball 16)
-Kelsey is another top-tier shooter in the soph class. His feel for the game is off the charts, but it’s his ability to shoot that sets up his whole game.
Gunner Wooden SG 5’11 Liberty HS (AZ Venom Red 16)
-Long and lean shooter. He can get hot once he is comfortable and has time to shoot. Good upside.
Will Betteridge PG 5’10 Chaparral HS (Triple Threat 16)
-Another confident soph has a lot of moxie. Seems to have the green light every possession and can rattle them off. Gets his shot off by creating separation.
2022
Dominic Capriotti SG 6’3 Skyline HS (The Show 17)
-Son of the Skyline coach has good size already and a nice stroke. He has college range and isn’t afraid to fail on 17U. Down the line he will be better for it since he was battle-tested now vs tougher competition.
JP Musselman SG 6’4 Brophy Prep (Powerhouse Hoops 15U Grey)
-Another good sized shooter. Seems like he grows every time I see him. He has a consistent shot and plays smartly on or off the ball.
