WIth that being said, there are still a few prospects in the state who are and could be in the under the radar category. Now it is still early in the AAU season, and the summer part of the season will begin in July and where college coaches get another chance to spot their recruits or even make new recruits in person. Here we can take a look at some of Georgia’s under the radar guys regardless of class.
2022 F Joyful Hawkins (Brunswick High School) – Many people probably do not know or ever even heard of the name Joyful Hawkins before but that should change by the end of the summer. Hawkins is only a freshman and sits at 6-foot-7 with a slim built body frame. He has had himself a solid AAU season running with Game Elite Big 5 (GA) on the Adidas Gauntlet. He has pulled in a few interest from college coaches and holds one offer on the table from Xavier. He is an energized playmaker who shows upside in his game. Hawkins shows versatility, effective on the glass, and has the explosive to finish at the rim for powerful finishes.
2020 PG Caleb Byrd (Rome High School) pictured – Although Caleb holds a few mid-major offers, I still feel he is underrated and underappreciated. His game speaks for itself. Caleb’s spring part of his AAU season, in my opinion, has gone very well. He has been one of the leading scorers on the Game Elite JB (GA) squad in the Adidas Gauntlet. Byrd’s intensity offensively and defensively is what stands out the most about him. He is a shot maker who can get his shot off and be efficient off the bounce and catch. He holds sneaky quickness and can be a blur in the open floor in transition.
2021 PG Danny Stubbs (Pebblebrook High School) – I have been bragging about sophomore point guard, now junior, Danny Stubbs for quite sometime now. Stubbs will earn his recognition soon enough, especially if he continues to play like he has over these last few months, dating back to the high school season. He is a mentally and physically tough point guard who is certainly still learning to become the best at his position. Danny shows he can control the tempo, hit perimeter and mid-range jumpers, and defend at a high level when on the floor. He holds sneaky athleticism at 6-foot-0 and college coaches and scouts could be on his case by the next live period.
2020 SG Nahiem Alleyne (Mountain View High School) – One of the nation’s top breakout prospects, Nahiem Alleyne, has made his name known this spring on the Nike EYBL circuit by leading the Georgia Stars in scoring. Schools like VCU and Virginia Tech have offered the 6-foot-3 two-guard recently and more offers could be in store by the end of the summer. Alleyne is able to score in bunches and holds nice size and length at his position. He is a capable shooter who is able to create his own shot off the bounce. Nahiem is a quick, crafty left handed two guard who can get hot in a blink of an eye.
