For some, that has not happened and they are continuing to play grassroots this season and are awaiting that call or see if they will pick up additional offers. Schools may be in luck as we take a long as some of the best remaining unsigned seniors that we have available.
Christian Davis – Mullen
Senior guard Christian Davis is another surprising senior that is still unsigned and schools are in luck. Any team that is looking for a knock down shooter that is still available– this is the first option that comes to mind. He is a marksman from beyond the arc and he is able to switch it up and go inside and finish or pull-up for a midrange as well. He can shoot off of the dribble, create for himself and operates well off of screens. He can be utilized as the primary ball handler and also excels off ball as well which makes him even more dangerous of a player. Davis had one of the best games of the entire year when he put up 55 points in a single game while knocking down 15-of-19 3-pointers in one game. An incredible feat. Catch him on a very loaded Colorado Miners team this summer who is surprising many across the country in which he has evolved into a playmaking wing with great ball handling. A school would be getting a guard who can impact the game immediately. He is a gym rat and microwave that can really shoot it. He makes it difficult on the opposing team because when he gets going he is capable of going for big numbers.
Joseph Dalton – Chaparral
Dalton is coming off of a year in which he was dealing with injuries but pushed through and is just coming off of a surgery but if there is one thing that has been seen is he comes back strong and ready to go. Dalton was on a very talented Chaparral team that made it to the championship game and he averaged 8.3 points and 4.0 rebounds a game. He is a 6’4 combo guard that is capable of going inside and scoring but stretches the defense with his shooting capabilities and gravity. He moves well off the ball and is an aggressive rebounder that goes straight up after securing the board. He is a leader that was a four-year starter for the Wolverines. He plays on both sides of the ball and gets after it, stays in front of his man and plays the passing lanes well. He plays above the rim and what a school will be getting is a versatile playmaker with length that changes the flow of the game. A guard that rebounds well and a winner that will do what is asked of him.
Darien Myers – Palmer
Myers was a captain at Palmer that lead by example. He is a 6’3 guard that gets it done in various ways. Myers is a bucket that is capable of shooting the ball but excels around the rim. He is an aggressive finisher that attacks the rim and provides plenty of second chance opportunities with his work on the boards. He had his best year this senior season putting up 18.0 and 11.0 rebounds a game and was close to averaging a double-double for his whole career. He also played down low with his strength and held his own against the big guys and came up with 2.1 blocks a game. Myers is a player that does it all and had an incredible career that bodes well at eh next level as he is a hard worker on both ends of the floor and is a player that fits in any system. Schools in the RMAC and Region 9 should be banging on his door very soon.
Bailey Verk – Thunder Ridge
Verk is a player. He is not a player that is a specialist as he is able to give you a bit of everything. He is a hard worker that is intelligent on the court and understands exactly where to be. He is a solid rebounder, can score on the block and is a player that has great court vision that passes really well. Verk is a bruiser on the court that boxes out on every play, is willing to dive for loose balls and sets up for charges. While Verk is very well a post player he has added other pieces to his game over the years to add to an already sound offensive skill set. Verk’s hard-nosed style of play translates well at the next level and he will really be great on the defensive end as he is tough to back down, rarely leaves his feet and has an ability to block shots. What a school will be getting at the next level is a hustle player that gives you his all, makes others around him better and an effective big man that leads by example.
Jodaun Dotson – Range view
Dotson is an athletic point guard who creates problems for teams with speed and quickness. He knows where he wants to go and gets there in a hurry not allowing the defender much time to make up. He is also good at drawing defenders to his with his driving ability where he can either find the open man or finish at the rim or for a mid-range pull up. He is a pass-first guard that is looking for others to make the right play. What stands out most is his willingness to give up parts of his game to help the team and that is exactly why Range view won the 5A state championship this year. Throughout his career he was the primary ball handler and point guard but Senior year he showed that he is able to play off-ball just as well and it ended up being his best year in almost every single category. He put up 12.5 points and two rebounds and assists a game. What a school will be getting is a coachable guard that does not make many mistakes, is willing to do what is asked of him and also is a solid on-ball defender that leaves it all on the court. There are not many guards available with the upside that Dotson has.
