I watched the 17U division and saw some Elite-8 teams plus a couple consolation bracket games.
Here are some more of the standouts I viewed in the 2021 class:
Montez Taylor PG 5’8 Williams Field HS (Inspire DBR 16U)
-Jet quick undersized guard who can control games. Fast first step can turn the corner on his defender. Makes deep 3’s off bounce and good off the pick and roll game. The ball is on a string for him and is quick defensively on the ball. (Pictured on cover)
Fallou Cisse PF 6’7 AZ Compass Prep (Firestorm Pete 17U)
-Active forward who rebounds anything in area. Good touch around the rim and corrals close to double digit rebounds every game. He moves swiftly up the court like a wing and can cover a lot of ground defensively on the perimeter and can block shots inside.
LeRoy WIlliams PF 6’6 Buckeye HS (Inspire DBR 16U)
-Power interior player can move his defenders and score it deep in the paint. Has a lefty touch from elbow and in. Needs a right hand for further growth but the under the rim forward will fight you on every possession and brings his lunch pail every game.
Ti Cochrane SF 6’5 Williams Field HS (Inspire DBR 16U)
-Thicker player who can get downhill. Can hit perimeter jumpers and is sneaky athletic to play above the rim. He can tighten up his handle in tighter spaces but his effort is always there.
Dende Ceder C 6’10 AZ Compass Prep (Firestorm Pete 17U)
-Huge kid is raw offensively. Came in from the Netherlands and played Saturday and slowly improved on Sunday. Moves up the court well and has decent athleticism. Rebounds at a good rate inside but needs some time to improve his timing and get used to the flow of the American game. High upside for the true 5-man.
Donaven Ocasio PG 5’9 Corona del Sol HS (Firestorm Nation 16U Smith)
-Speedy shooter from deep and good on-ball defender. Good court sense and he rarely turns the ball over. Takes high percentage shots and has a good handle. Should make some noise in the next two years for the Aztecs.
