Runnin’ Rebels
One of the first games I witnessed this morning was with CYal Rebels out of South Dakota two players that stood out to me were Tyree Nave/Sioux Falls (SD) and Thorlingo Gilo/Sioux Falls (SD). Tyree is an elusive guard that has a better size compared to most guards he goes up against. Good shooter and has a no fear factor on going to the bucket to get free throws Gilo has quite the wingspan and is a physical player on the boards. Defense was definitely his strong suit based on what I witnessed this morning. They edged out with a one point win in OT against Mid Minnesota Attack lead by Peyton Coahran/Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa (MN) who had some clutch three-pointers in the 2nd half of the game.
Colarado MVP
My second game I watched Austin Gibson/Cherokee Trails (CO) take over the second half for 5280 Hoops as they picked up a double-digit win against All Around. On the boards, from three, and inside Gibson was my MVP of their game this morning by far.
Battle of the Dakotas
In my last game of the morning, I watched BBA Force (SD) close out Inspired Athletics (ND) by a small margin. I found out Jerry Deng/Sioux Falls Washington (SD) is a freak on the boards. Another player with outstanding leaping ability, Deng needs to be watched more this summer. Although Inspired Athletics couldn’t pull it out, the shooting of Jack Gollert/Shanley (ND) at the end of the game was impressive and kept Inspired Athletics very much in the game when they were down a large margin going into the half.
