With the spring grassroots season underway, Prep Hoops takes a look at several Kansas City area PGs in the 2020 class who are raising their profile.
23-Chuck Wilson, 5’10, 2020, Rock Bridge, YOBO
A strong frame with good hops and a nice deep ball. Wilson plays hard and takes his time on defense looking for the perfect moment to jump a passing lane. He passes ahead if he gets a steal and can finish or take it inside for himself if he needs to.
3-Maricus Grant, 6’1, 2020, Battle, Marcus Denmon Elite
A hard-nosed player who earns his stripes by playing physical and taking care of the ball. He slows things down and has great vision in transition. Grant plays physical and never lets the game get away from him or his team. He can be a threat with the ball if his jump shot is falling.
22-Bryce Jenkins, 5’10, 2020, Harrisonville, KC Premiere Blue Chips 17U
A quick guard who plays off the ball well and can handle it some for himself. You know him by the mask he wears and the decisions he makes with the all. He has confidence when he plays the point and looks to get others involved before himself. That said, he can play for himself and score anywhere on the floor.
0-Dezmond McKinney, 6’1, 2020, Raytown, Marcus Denmon Elite
A slick guard who can get up in a hurry. He runs the lanes and jumps passing lanes and looks for easy baskets at the other end. He uses his speed well and plays full court defense throughout the entire game and maintains his speed and enthusiasm.
3-Jalen Perry, 6’0, 2020, Liberty North, MoKan 2020
Perry is a fast point guard who can find his shot from deep and move inside to score in a moment’s notice. He’s one of the shortest players on his team, but he knows how to move off the ball, create separation, and avoid problem areas on the floor. A fierce competitor who has great handles and slick passes.
