Continue ReadingSeattle Rotary’s class of 2021 has been a special group dating back to their elementary days. Names like Shane Nowell and Paolo Banchero have been household names for some time, but the third part of the three-headed monster has always been point guard Nolan Hickman. The 6’1 point guard has taken his game to new levels this spring playing on the 17u Nike EYBL circuit. Nolan is quite basketball savvy on the high school scene, taking care of the ball and making sound decisions. He never gets sped up or does not appear to ever get too uncomfortable. Some players have a difficult time maintaining their level of play once they get out on the circuit. This has not been the case for Nolan, as displayed by his 4.5 assists to just 1.7 turnovers per game playing against some of the best competition in the country. He has also kept the defense honest by averaging just under 13 points per game. In his first season playing on the 17u EYBL, Nolan helped lead the team to the Nike Peach Jam in July. Stats and numbers are all great, but in the end, we all know these kids are playing to earn scholarships and Nolan has done that too.
In this month alone, Cal Poly and the Oklahoma University have offered the floor general. He already held offers from Montana, WSU and UW. There had already been chatter around Washington that Nolan could be in contention for a top 100 national ranking. His performance has been at the level of a top 100 player and he is on track to make a splash in updated national rankings. He has also received an invite to Nike’s Elite 100 Camp June 23-27. With another strong performance at the Elite 100 Camp, Nolan could possibly see his stock rise to another level once again. While we have been fortunate to witness him play since his elementary days, Nolan Hickman is now officially a household name on the national scene. Prep Hoops will keep everyone updated throughout his recruitment as things really start to heat up!
