I felt like he was an undervalued piece on their team and I wanted to track his progress as he went through his junior year and onward. Now with the Cali Stars, Braun and his team played in Atlanta for the April live period, where he was very impressive. Braun is a high-level, above-the-rim athlete who does not need much space or moment to explode to the basket. His athletic ability is evident on the defensive end as well; he locks in and can shut down ball-handlers consistently. Braun is an exceptional shooter also. He has deep range, elevates, and is effective on a variety of shots. I think Braun is deserving of his first offer and he should continue to see an uptick in his recruitment.
5’7” PG John Allen (2019/GA Knights)- On a talented team like the Knights, it can be easy for role players to go unsung. Allen is one of those guys. People will talk about his lack of size, but he brings it every time I watch their team. Along with Roman Son, he is a headache as a defender, terrorizing ball-handlers the full length of the court. Don’t believe me? Just ask Team Loaded NC how it was having to deal with him. Allen has tremendous quickness and overall athleticism, which he shows on offense too. He gets by defenders with ease and makes some eye-popping passes in traffic. Allen has also had some impressive moments elevating over bodies in the paint. He does not worry about scoring but instead focuses on other areas of the game that impact winning.
6’3” SG Dominic Woods (2020/Los Angeles Elite)- Similar to Braun, Woods is a California product who I was able to see at the Terrific 24 during the April live period. In a late night game in the back gym at Wheeler, Woods had one of the better shooting performances I’ve seen this spring. He went for 24 points with 6 made 3’s in an LA Elite win, heating up early on in the game and staying aggressive throughout. Woods gets good, quick elevation on his jumper and has a really compact, pretty form. He also showed other parts to his game once the defense tried to adjust to his shooting. Woods is crafty with the ball and has the quickness and touch to get in the lane and make things happen. I haven’t seen much going on with his recruitment, which is quite surprising to me.
6’2” CG Emondre Bowles (2021/Game Elite)- The first time I saw Bowles last spring, he had a dominant showing of 36 points against a talented EAB 2021 group while running with Savannah Unified. Fast forward a year, Bowles had a good sophomore season and has proven to be a key contributor for Game Elite 2021 after recently joining them. However, there is still not much talk of Bowles compared to other 2021 prospects of the same caliber. Bowles is great with the ball in his hands, consistently making the right decision on whether to score or facilitate. He is calm, smooth and changes speeds well, which allows him to create off penetration often. Bowles plays through contact effectively and hurts you in a variety of ways on offense. Watch out for him the rest of the summer.
