It’s always interesting to witness teams from across all three sneaker circuits and beyond battle for supremacy. This week on the site we will be providing extensive coverage of the tournament beginning with superlatives. Below is a look at five of the best shooters we saw this weekend.
ANGELO BRIZZI | 6’3 G | 16U TEAM BBC/HIGHLAND ’21
Angelo Brizzi is a skilled lefty with in the gym range. He demonstrated the ability to create his own shot off the bounce. One thing we’d like to see from Brizzi is a bit more assertiveness offensively. He’s an unselfish playmaker but doesn’t hunt shots aggressively enough when his team needs a score.
GABE DORSEY | 6’5 G | 16U TEAM DURANT/HILL ’21
It’s not far-fetched to say Gabe Dorsey was the best spot shooter in the tournament. The southpaw wing continues to showcase a quick release and an effortless shooting stroke this spring. Dorsey can make threes in bunches and really wreck a game plan if not accounted for.
JORDAN HAWKINS | 6’5 G | 16U TEAM DURANT/GAITHERSBURG ’21
Jordan Hawkins is another excellent spot shooter in the Team Durant program, but he’s a little better off the bounce than Dorsey. Hawkins has some wiggle to him and his length gives him an advantage when shooting over top of the defense.
RODNEY RICE | 6’3 G | 16U TEAM DURANT/BULLIS ’22
There might not be a more talented shot creator in the local 2022 class than Rodney Rice. He exhibits a tight handle and wide arsenal of go-to moves that he utilizes to constantly keep opponents off balance.
CLINT WRIGHT JR. | 6’2 G | 17U TEAM PUSH/LAKELAND ’20
It would be interesting to see exactly how efficiently Clint Wright Jr. shot the ball this weekend. Seemingly every attempt he took hit its mark. Wright proved that he can hit shots from a variety of scenarios and in high volumes.
