It’s always interesting to witness teams from across all three sneaker circuits and beyond battle for supremacy. This week on the site we will be providing extensive coverage of the tournament beginning with superlatives. Below is a look at five of the best rebounders we saw this weekend.
JORDAN BRATHWAITE | 6’6 F | 16U NEW WORLD/GLENELG COUNTRY ’20
Jordan Brathwaite came in off the bench and gave great effort on the glass throughout the weekend. Brathwaite has good length which in conjunction with his motor makes him a presence on both ends.
KARL CHAVIS | 6’6 F | 17U TEAM PUSH/OSCAR SMITH ’20
He’s not the best athlete in the world, but Karl Chavis is a long-armed forward who makes an impact on the glass with his effort. One thing I like about Chavis is his ability to start the break after securing a defensive board.
DAOUDA DEMBELE | 6’5 F | 16U TEAM STAT/SPRINGBROOK ’21
Daouda Dembele is going to be a problem once he fills out his broad-shouldered frame. He always boxes out and has great hands which enable him to consistently secure rebounds in traffic. Dembele is already strong enough to move bodies in the paint and crashes the offensive boards quite relentlessly.
BOBBY HILL | 6’5 F | 16U TEAM STAT/DEMATHA ’21
Bobby Hill is another long-armed forward who can secure out of area rebounds and quickly initiate offense in transition. It will be interesting to see how much Hill’s production increases over the next few months as his body evolves.
DAVID N’GUESSAN | 6’8 F/C | 17U TEAM BBC/MT. ZION PREP ’20
An athletic big man with good size and hands at 6-foot-8, David N’Guessan was an impactful offensive and defensive rebounder as a result of his consistently high work rate. N’Guessan’s intriguing blend of size, athleticism, and effort give him a competitive advantage against most who challenge him at this level.
