Breven McMullen 6’5″ Gateway: A big wing player from Park Hills Central who has excellent size and shooting ability from 3-point range. He can really shoot it off the catch, plus he has developed his handles and ball skills to become a versatile offensive threat. He can post up against smaller players and get into the lane and knock down short jumpers. He has also improved his athleticism throughout his career and can hit you with an explosive play around the rim.
Harrison Vickers 6’5″ Gateway: A big slashing wing player from Chaminade who can do a multitude of things to help his team win games. He can take the ball and initiate the offense as a point guard, where he can pass and make good decisions with the ball. He is an impressive rebounder who attacks the boards on both ends. He is at his best when he can slash and slink his way into the lane for buckets, but he is not afraid to put up a 3-pointer when left open and hit in. A true swiss army knife.
Quenton Shelton 6’3″ Carroll GoL1ve: The versatile scorer from Lebanon was one of the top 3-point shooters in the tournament. He has been a consistent scoring threat throughout the spring with his shooting range and ability to create buckets off the dribble. He’s gotten bigger and stronger over the course of his varsity career, which enables him to withstand more physical defenders.
Donte Reese 6’3″ Missouri Flight: It was my first look at the athletic wing from Springfield Central and I was very impressed with his athleticism and high motor at both ends. He played with a tremendous amount of energy. He was very good at attacking the basket and finishing over people. He had his share of dunks in transition and he stayed active on the defensive end.
Nate Garrett 6’5″ SW IL Jets: A very skilled wing player from Hazelwood Central who combines his size and skills to become a very intriguing collegiate prospect. He has developed his game from a slasher into an overall threat who can knock down 3-pointers and create jumpers off the dribble. He has smooth handles and good length, which also helps him on the defensive end. He is poised to have a big July and as well as a senior campaign.
Sergio McClain 6’4″ Gateway: A physical wing player from Vashon who was an offensive threat from several different places on the court. He has a strong body which enables him to operate around the basket successfully. He was very good on the perimeter where he handled the ball, created offense and knocked down 3-pointers. He is starting blossom as an all-around player the more I watch him play.
Drew Cromer 6’3″ Missouri Showtime: A skilled wing player from Marshfield who knew how to put the ball in the basket i a variety of ways. He was very good off the bounce where he could beat defenders with a number of escape moves to get himself to the bucket. He was a good finisher with short jumpers in the lane and floaters, plus he was good at drawing fouls. Very resourceful offensive player.
Matt McGuire 5’9″ KC Pacers White: A small guard from Park Hill South who was very good off the ball as one of the top perimeter shooters during the weekend. He made six 3-pointers in the game I watched him play against Victory Ministry in the quarterfinals. He was constantly moving without the basketball and he had a quick release and deep shooting range.
